• Getting regular work against RHPs
Martini will start at designated hitter and bat sixth Sunday against the Brewers.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Martini sat out will pick up his second straight start against a right-handed starting pitcher or primary pitcher and may have temporarily supplanted Jacob Hurtubise as a strong-side platoon player at DH. Martini owns an underwhelming .205/.252/.357 slash line over 123 plate appearances on the season in the majors, so he'll most likely be the odd man out of the everyday lineup against right-handed pitching once the Reds get Noelvi Marte back from an 80-game suspension June 27. • Sitting in second straight
Hurtubise is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Hurtubise is on the bench for the second day in a row while the Reds have faced off against right-handed starters or primary pitchers in both contests. He appears to have lost his strong-side platoon role in left field or at designated hitter to Nick Martini, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Friday and is occupying the DH spot for the second day in a row. Both Martini and Hurtubise are likely to see their opportunities to play against right-handed pitching take a hit once Noelvi Marte (suspension) is reinstated June 27. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
  • Beginning rehab assignment
Sborz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: A right rotator cuff strain put Sborz on the injured list May 9, but he made it through live BP earlier this week and has since gained clearance to start up a rehab assignment. Sborz compiled a win and three holds in seven appearances before going down. He should slot back into a fairly prominent role in the Rangers' bullpen when ready, though not quite at the back end. • Lourdes Gurriel gets Sunday off vs. White Sox
Lourdes Gurriel is not in the starting lineup against the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Gurriel will get the day off for the series finale against the White Sox. While he rests, Randal Grichuk will get a start; something that doesn’t typically happen against right-hander hurlers. Rotoworld Today, 10:45 am
  • Not starting Sunday
Velazquez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: This marks the second absence in three days for Velazquez, who has struggled to a .129/.256/.194 slash line so far this month. His overall OPS is down more than 200 points from a year ago. He could see his playing time squeezed further in the short term with Salvador Perez needing time at designated hitter to combat a knee injury. Rotowire.com Today, 10:42 am
  • On bench again Sunday
Hays is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Cedric Mullins appears to have taken back a regular spot in the Baltimore outfield from Hays, who has now sat in each of the Orioles' last three matchups with right-handed starting pitchers. Hays should continue to replace either Mullins or Colton Cowser in the lineup when the Orioles face lefties. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am

  • White Sox designate Ellis for assignment
White Sox designated OF Duke Ellis for assignment.

Advice: Ellis is now off the 40-man roster, and the White Sox used that room to select the contract of Chuckie Robinson so that Robinson wouldn’t opt out of his minor-league deal. Ellis has shown tremendous speed on the bases, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if a team were to claim him or possibly make a trade with the White Sox to procure his services. • Kepler out for first game of doubleheader
Max Kepler is not in the lineup for the first game of the doubleheader against the Athletics on Sunday.

Advice: Kepler is dealing with elbow soreness, and he’ll get at least the first game of the twin billing against Oakland off. It’s possible the 31-year-old wouldn’t be playing anyway with southpaw JP Sears on the mound for the A’s. Stay tuned to see if he returns for game two of the doubleheader. Rotoworld Today, 8:53 am

  • Max Kepler dealing with elbow soreness
Max Kepler is day-to-day with elbow soreness.

Advice: Kepler managed to stay in Friday’s extra-inning marathon against the Athletics, eventually delivering the game-winning hit, after being hit by a pitch in the elbow earlier in the contest. He’ll benefit from Saturday’s rainout by getting some extra time to rest and recover. It’s possible he’ll be ready for the opening contest of Sunday’s doubleheader at Target Field.
