• Atlanta options Kerr to Triple-A Gwinnett
Braves optioned LHP Ray Kerr to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Kerr has made the trip from Gwinnett to Atlanta and vice versa a couple of times in 2024, and that is likely to continue through the campaign. He’s down to make room for Grant Holmes after Holmes had his contract selected from Gwinnett in the corresponding transaction. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Summoned from Triple-A
The Cardinals recalled Loutos from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

Advice: He'll begin his second stint of the season with the big club after he received his first call-up May 20 and made two scoreless appearances out of the bullpen before being sent back to Memphis on June 4. Loutos is likely to handle a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the Cardinals. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

  • Sent out to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Kerr to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Atlanta will swap the left-handed Kerr out of its bullpen for a right-hander in Grant Holmes, whose contract was selected from Gwinnett in a corresponding move. After making a pair of spot starts in late May, Kerr shifted into a relief role this month and gave up three earned runs on eight hits and four walks over 5.1 innings spanning four appearances. • Back with big club as 27th man
The Twins recalled Varland from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Advice: Varland had previously been optioned to St. Paul on Wednesday, one day after he was summoned from Triple-A to make a spot start against the Rockies. Though he delivered five shutout innings while taking a no-decision against Colorado, he'll be back with the Twins as a long-relief option Sunday, as Minnesota has designated him as its 27th man for its doubleheader with Oakland. Bailey Ober and Chris Paddack will start the first and second games of the twin bill, respectively. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am

  • Making fourth rehab start Sunday
Silseth (elbow) will make a rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: In the third start of his rehab assignment this past Tuesday, Silseth built up to 71 pitches, but he was blitzed for six earned runs on four hits and five walks while lasting just 2.2 innings for Salt Lake. Though Silseth appears to be fully stretched out for a traditional starting role at this point, the Angels will likely want to see him execute better at Triple-A before bringing him back in the rotation. If Silseth can keep the free passes in check Sunday, he could get the green light to return from the 60-day injured list for next weekend's Freeway Series against the Dodgers. • Narrowly misses quality start
Blach (3-4) picked up the win over the Pirates on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Blach was effective early, striking out the first two batters he faced in the contest and going 1-2-3 through the first two frames. He would go on to surrender a solo homer to Nick Gonzales in the fourth and a second run in the sixth, but the lefty was able to hang out to earn his fourth win of the season and his first in the month of June. Blach has gone at least five innings in five straight outings, issuing multiple walks only one time over that stretch. However, he's also given up at least seven hits in three consecutive starts. • Stuck with loss Saturday
Walker (4-3) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk with one strikeout over one inning to take the loss Saturday versus the Angels.

Advice: Walker's scoreless streak ended at 5.1 innings, though a two-out throwing error by Curt Casali contributed to the Giants giving up the decisive run in the seventh inning. Walker has allowed four runs (three earned) over 7.1 innings in June, and he's added four holds this month as he continues to see an increasingly large high-leverage role. He's at a 2.48 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 46:7 K:BB with 13 holds over 36.1 innings this season. While it hasn't happened yet in 2024, Walker would likely be next in line for save chances whenever Camilo Doval is unavailable, as Tyler Rogers has typically struggled when given ninth-inning assignments. • Scott McGough works 2 1/3 as opener vs. White Sox
Scott McGough allowed a run over 2 1/3 innings in a start against the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: McGough was essentially an opener for a bullpen day, but he ended up going deeper than the arms behind him. The right-hander struck out two while issuing one walk. There’s a good chance McGough works in a similar capacity next week against the Phillies, but there’ll be no reason for fantasy consideration. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:08 pm
  • Lasts four innings Saturday
Criswell allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: The Red Sox jumped out to a quick lead, but Criswell didn't pitch deep enough to qualify for the win. He needed 88 pitches (55 strikes) to complete his four frames, making this the seventh time in 12 appearances (11 starts) he's failed to complete five innings. The 27-year-old has a 4.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 49:13 K:BB over 52 innings this season. Criswell is tentatively projected to make his next appearance on the road versus the Reds.
