    • Loses despite quality start
      Baz (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out six and taking the loss against the Rangers.

      Advice: Making his first MLB appearance since July 10, 2022, Baz delivered a quality start on 92 pitches. He looked impressive outside of an ugly three-run third inning. His fastball averaged 96.2 mph and topped out at 99.1. Baz posted a 4.12 ERA with a 44:23 K:BB across 39.1 frames with Triple-A Durham prior to his promotion. The 25-year-old's spot in the rotation could be in question once Jeffrey Springs (elbow) is ready to return. As of now, Baz is in line to face the Yankees at home next week.       Corbin did not factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Cardinals, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five innings.

      Advice: Corbin opened with three scoreless innings but allowed three runs over the fourth and fifth frames before departing with a 5-3 lead. The southpaw generated only five swinging strikes on 91 pitches but has now completed at least five innings in 12 consecutive outings.       Advice: Bibee got off to a brutal start, coughing up three runs in the first inning. He snapped his streak of three consecutive quality starts with his shortest outing since May 8. Bibee went 3-1 with a terrific 40:4 K:BB in five June starts and was 5-1 over his previous 10 outings before Friday's loss. He now owns a 3.67 ERA with a 115:24 K:BB through 98 frames. Over his last three outings, Freeland has a 1.37 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB across 19.2 innings while making two of those appearances in Coors Field.       Nestor Cortes allowed just one run in six innings against the Red Sox on Friday. He struck out eight and walked one in a no-decision.

      Advice: Cortes carved the Red Sox up in this one. His fastball and sweeper each induced six swings-and-misses as those two pitches along with his cutter rendered the Sox’s bats powerless.       Tanner Houck allowed three runs, one earned, over 3 1/3 innings on Friday against the Yankees. He walked four batters and struck out just one in a no-decision.

      Advice: A 45 minute rain delay early in this game made this start a bit wonky. Houck cruised through the first two innings before the storm and lost his touch afterwards. The three runs off him came on a fielder’s choice with an error, walk, and ground out.       Beeks earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Royals, pitching an inning with one strikeout and allowing two hits.

      Advice: The southpaw reliever entered in the ninth and looked to be in danger after he allowed two straight singles to lead off the frame. However, Beeks recovered by retiring the next three batters to work out of the jam, securing his 13th career save. The 30-year-old has collected the last two Colorado saves and produced four straight outings without allowing an earned run over 5.1 innings.     • Max Fried can’t stop Phillies’ bats
      Max Fried allowed 11 hits and five earned runs in six innings of work on Friday against the Phillies. He struck out four and walked one in a loss.

      Advice: This was a pivotal game for the Braves as they try to claw their way back into the NL East race and Fried simply did not have it. He lived in the heart of the zone and the Phillies made him pay time and time again. They had base runners in five out of six innings and looked incredibly comfortable in the box all night.
