    • Sitting against right-hander
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Soderstrom had started each of the previous six games against right-handers, but he'll begin Thursday's contest on the bench as the Athletics take on righty Ryan Feltner. Soderstrom sports a .689 OPS and 42.1 percent strikeout rate in 11 contests with the big club this season. J.D. Davis will cover first base Thursday in Soderstrom's stead. • Day off Thursday
Langeliers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Rockies.

Advice: Langeliers will get a breather for the day game after catching both of the first two games of the series. Kyle McCann will be behind the dish for the Athletics on Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:00 am
    • Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers. • Stuck with first loss
Garrett (5-1) took the loss Wednesday against Cleveland, allowing a run on two hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: After entering with the game tied 3-3 in the seventh inning, Garrett allowed a leadoff single to David Fry who'd advance to second on a wild pitch before eventually scoring on a Johnathan Rodriguez base hit. It's the first loss of the year for the 31-year-old Garrett -- he's allowed just two earned runs in his last 13.1 innings. Despite Wednesday's setback, Garrett's emerged as a top option in the Mets' bullpen and could see the occasional save chance with Edwin Diaz temporarily shifting to a lower-leverage role. Overall, Garrett sports a 1.04 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP while posting a stellar 14.9 K/9 across 26 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 am

    • On bench versus southpaw
Soderstrom is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus Colorado.

Advice: Soderstrom started the previous three games but will sit Wednesday as lefty Austin Gomber pitches for the Rockies. J.D. Davis will handle first base and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:00 pm

    • Hits bench against lefty
Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: The Mariners have been able to make room for both Raley and Dominic Canzone in the corner outfield lately by giving Mitch Haniger more time at designated hitter at the expense of Mitch Garver, but both Raley and Canzone will hit the bench Wednesday with southpaw Nestor Cortes on the bump for the Yankees. Raley owns an 1.118 OPS since the beginning of May and should continue to see regular playing time versus right-handed pitching while he's wielding a hot bat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm

    • On bench against lefty
Rojas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: With lefty Nestor Cortes on the mound for the Yankees, the lefty-hitting Rojas will retreat to the bench after he had started in each of the Mariners' last eight games. Luis Urias will pick up a start at third base in Rojas' stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:01 pm

    • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year. It’s impressive that he has a 3.44 ERA to date, but he doesn’t seem like a very good bet at this point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:55 pm
    • Shaky in no-decision
McKenzie did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: McKenzie didn't appear to have his best stuff Wednesday, as he'd allow three solo homers before departing with a 3-0 deficit in the sixth inning. However, the Guardians would rally for six unanswered runs in an eventual victory, sparing McKenzie the loss. Still, it's the first time in seven starts that McKenzie's allowed more than two earned runs -- he came into the day with a 2.10 ERA over his prior six outings. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander sports a 3.44 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 10 starts (52.1 innings) this season. McKenzie's next start is currently lined up for early next week against the Rockies in Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:40 pm
