    • Paul DeJong hits 16th homer in loss to Cleveland
Paul DeJong homered while driving in two runs in a loss to the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: DeJong took Ben Lively deep with a runner on to pick up his 16th homer of the season and cut the Cleveland lead to 7-3. The power has been there for DeJong for the majority of 2024 with those roundtrippers and a .456 slugging mark. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s playing for a new team by the end of the month. • Steven Kwan homers, reaches four times in win
Steven Kwan went 3-for-4 with a homer in an 8-4 win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Kwan hit a solo homer off Jared Shuster in the third inning to give Cleveland a 2-1 lead. That’s the eighth homer of the season for the 26-year-old, who is enjoying a sensational 2024 season to put it mildly. On top of the homer and two more hits, he also walked, and the slash is now a robust .367/.424/.539. It’s very likely this isn’t sustainable — at least to this level — but Kwan has been a difference maker in the first half of 2024 for fantasy managers and the Guardians. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

    • Jake Irvin dominates Mets in win
Jake Irvin threw eight scoreless innings in a win over the Mets on Thursday, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.

Advice: It was sheer dominance from Irvin, who allowed a single to Jeff McNeil and nothing else. His curveball provided its typical strong results, and the trio of fastballs did their part as Irvin induced 15 whiffs on 47 swings for a 32 percent whiff rate and 38 percent CSW on the day. He now has a 2.80 ERA in what has been a breakout season and will look to keep that going next week against these same Mets. Rotoworld Today, 10:44 am

    • Has career day vs Mets
Irvin (7-6) earned the win Thursday against the Mets. He allowed one hit and one walk over eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

Advice: Irvin was brilliant Thursday as he threw a career-high eight innings to grab his seventh win. After giving up a one-out single to Jeff McNeil in the third, Irvin went on to retire the final 17 batters he faced. He became the first Nationals pitcher to throw eight shutout innings since Joe Ross in June 2021. The 27-year-old has registered a quality start in eight of his last nine appearances. He is making a case for a spot in the All-Star Game with his 2.80 ERA, which is ranked 10th in the majors. Rotowire.com Today, 10:32 am

    • Three-hit effort in loss
Winn went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Winn has gone 7-for-14 over his last three games. The shortstop cooled off a bit in June, hitting .255 with a .669 OPS over 26 games, though he remains the near-everyday leadoff hitter. For the season, Winn has an excellent .293/.337/.420 slash line with four home runs, eight stolen bases, 29 RBI, 33 runs scored, 17 doubles and three triples across 77 contests. • Held out again Thursday
Bader (head) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Nationals.

Advice: Bader had to exit Tuesday's game with a head injury after colliding with the outfield wall. He's avoided a concussion but will now miss a second straight start. Tyrone Taylor will again handle center field in Bader's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 6:04 am

    • Continues to roll with 19th save
Diaz earned a save against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Diaz entered in the ninth frame to protect a one-run lead and was successful despite issuing a leadoff walk. The Cincinnati closer has tossed seven straight scoreless outings, allowing just one hit during that span while recording five saves. Diaz has rebounded well from his early season struggles, as he's been successful in each of his past 13 save opportunities and has registered a 1.53 ERA across 17.2 frames over that stretch. • Big effort in win
Greene went 3-for-4 with a triple, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Greene was an offensive force as he recorded his 16th home run of the season and pushed his OPS up to .851. The 23-year-old had already surpassed his previous career best of 11 home runs in a season, and he's now up to a career-high 43 RBI this year as well after Wednesday's effort. Greene could be closing in on his first All-Star appearance, but at the very least he's been a strong fantasy asset who continues to trend upward given his promising skill set. • Yields three runs in loss
Hicks (4-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings, taking the loss versus Atlanta on Wednesday.

Advice: Hicks is winless in his last eight outings, going 0-4 with a 5.02 ERA in that span. He's walked multiple batters in six of those starts, though Wednesday was the fourth time in that span that he's avoided giving up a home run. Hicks is at a 3.47 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 82:35 K:BB through 90.2 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home against one of his former teams, the Blue Jays.
