      Clase earned a save against the Mets on Monday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Clase inherited a two-run lead when he entered in the ninth frame and made quick work of New York, needing just 12 pitches to set down the side in order. The right-hander has yielded just one earned run all season, giving him a sparkling 0.37 ERA through 24.1 frames.       Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Royals.

      Advice: Carpenter continued a strong month of May, as he's batting .325 this month with three home runs, nine runs scored and 10 RBI across 14 games. He's now up to six long balls overall to go along with a solid .893 OPS.       Kerry Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, a sacrifice, two runs scored and two RBI against the Royals on Monday.



      Advice: The home run was Carpenter’s sixth of the season. He’s hitting .285 with an .893 OPS with the majority of his at-bats coming against right-handed pitching. It can certainly be frustrating for fantasy managers when Carpenter is on the bench against left-handed starters or gets pinch-hit for late in games. He was 16-for-68 (.235) against left-handed pitchers in 2023, though, so it’s hard to argue the logic even on nights when it’s readily apparent that Carpenter is the Tigers’ best offensive weapon.

    • Emmanuel Clase lowers ERA to 0.37 on Monday
      Emmanuel Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Mets to record his league-leading 14th save of the season.

      Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 12 pitches (seven strikes) to end the contest. The 26-year-old elite stopper has converted a major league-leading 14 of 17 save opportunities to go along with a microscopic 0.37 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 24/2 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (25 appearances).       Cole (elbow) will face hitters Tuesday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

      Advice: Cole has been throwing off a mound for a couple weeks and is now ready to face hitters for the first time since he was diagnosed with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow back in mid-March.     • Cole will face hitters for the first time in 2024
      Gerrit Cole is scheduled to face live hitters on Tuesday.

      Advice: Cole played catch on Monday and felt good, so he will now progress to facing live hitters for the first time in his rehab process. There is still a long way to go for Cole, who will face live hitters a couple of times before beginning a proper rehab assignment. The current timeline, provided he doesn’t experience any setbacks, is for Cole to return sometime in mid to late June. What that means for Luis Gil, Clarke Schmidt and the other Yankees starters who are pitching well is anybody’s guess at this point. Rotoworld Monday, 12:56 pm

      Springer went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Rays.

      Advice: Dropped to sixth in the batting order over the weekend, Springer responded to the move by getting on base three times, leading to his first multi-run performance since April 14. The veteran outfielder hasn't had a multi-hit game since April 24 though, slashing .156/.214/.203 in 17 contests since then without a homer.       Clase (3-1) allowed an unearned run and struck out one batter in one inning of work Sunday against the Twins. He was charged with a blown save but earned the win.

      Advice: Clase gave up the game-tying run on an error in the ninth inning, but Cleveland walked it off in the bottom half of the frame. It was his first blown save since April 16, and he's now 13 for 16 in save chances this season.       Doval struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

      Advice: Doval extended his scoreless streak to 4.1 innings. He needed 17 pitches (10 strikes) Sunday, but he was able to emerge with his eighth save in as many chances this season. The closer has a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over 18 innings and has also posted a 2-0 record this season.
