    • Hitting pause on rehab
Sewald (oblique) will have his rehab slowed a bit due to soreness, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Advice: Sewald felt some soreness following a rehab appearance with Triple-A Reno earlier this week. He had been scheduled for a bullpen session Saturday, but that has been scrapped. While it does not seem to be a major setback for the reliever, Sewald no longer appears poised to return soon. Kevin Ginkel will continue to serve as the Diamondbacks' closer while Sewald recovers. • Pete Alonso blasts eighth homer in loss to Cardinals
Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 7-4 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Alonso cut the Cardinals lead to two runs with a two-run blast off Sonny Gray in the fifth inning. It was the eighth homer of the season for the 29-year-old slugger. He’s slashing .252/325/.515 with 14 RBI across 114 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 4:36 pm

    • Paul Sewald slowed a bit due to renewed soreness
Paul Sewald (oblique) will not throw a scheduled bullpen session on Saturday due to renewed soreness in his oblique.

Advice: The Diamondbacks aren’t calling it a major setback for the right-hander, but they will slow down his rehab a bit to make sure not to push him. It initially looked as though Sewald could join the Diamondbacks’ bullpen in the coming days, but now it looks like Kevin Ginkel may be working the ninth inning for another week or so. • Thairo Estrada returns to Giants lineup
Thairo Estrada (hamstring) returned to the Giants’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Estrada was pulled from Wednesdays game against the Mets due to tightness in his hamstring, then sat out Friday’s contest as a precautionary measure. He’s back in there at second base and batting eighth against Martin Perez and the Pirates on Saturday night. Rotoworld Today, 3:11 pm

    • Returns to lineup
Estrada (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting eighth Saturday against the Pirates, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hamstring tightness forced Estrada out of Wednesday's game against the Mets and prevented him from starting Friday, but it seems to no longer be a problem heading into Saturday's contest. The 28-year-old has gone 4-for-16 with two RBI and three runs scored across his last five games. Rotowire.com Today, 3:04 pm

    • Available Saturday
Diaz (hand) is not in the starting lineup but is available as a pinch hitter for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Diaz left Friday's game after taking a 99-mph fastball off his left pinky in the eighth inning. X-rays came back negative, and while he won't start Saturday, he will be available should the Rays need a right-handed bat. With Diaz in the dugout, lefty-hitting Austin Shenton will start at first base and bat in the cleanup spot against White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon. Rotowire.com Today, 1:55 pm

    • Yandy Diaz (hand) held out of lineup on Saturday
Yandy Diaz (hand) was held out of the Rays’ starting lineup for Saturday’s contest against the White Sox.

Advice: The hard-hitting 32-year-old infielder was drilled in the hand by a 99.3 mph fastball from Michael Kopech on Friday night. While he was fortunate to avoid any fractures in the ordeal, he’s still dealing with some soreness and swelling and may need to miss a couple of games even if he does avoid a trip to the injured list. Austin Shenton will start in his place at first base and bat cleanup against Jonathan Cannon and the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 1:54 pm

    • D-backs optimistic Zac Gallen makes next start
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism late Friday that Zac Gallen (hamstring) will make his next start.

Advice: Gallen was removed from Friday’s start against the Mariners in the sixth inning for precautionary reasons after experiencing right hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old righty has dealt with similar hamstring issues in the past, which is why Arizona didn’t want to take any chances. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in a few days when he throws his usual between-starts bullpen session, but for the moment, fantasy managers should plan on him taking the ball on Wednesday against the Dodgers at Chase Field. • Sits down against lefty
Outman isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Outman will take a seat Saturday with southpaw Yusei Kikuchi set to start on the mound for the Jays. Chris Taylor, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez will start across Los Angeles' outfield while Outman watches from the dugout. Rotowire.com Today, 8:14 am
