    • Hangs tough but takes loss
Lively (1-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: It appeared Lively could be in for a short outing after giving up three runs on five hits (including three doubles) and a walk over his first two frames, but the right-hander recovered to go 5.2 innings without giving up another run. The three runs were a season high, which speaks to how well Lively has pitched through five appearances on the season. He holds a 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB across 27.1 innings. • Launches two-run homer
Singleton went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Yankees in Thursday's 4-3 win.

Advice: Singleton's long ball was a first-inning, two-run shot that traveled an estimated 442 feet and gave the Astros a 3-0 lead. It was his fourth homer over a nine-game stretch that has helped him take over the starting role at first base that was made available when Jose Abreu was demoted to the minors. Singleton's recent playing time and power surge has put him on the radar in mixed fantasy leagues. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

    • Goes deep in second straight game
Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Conforto accounted for San Francisco's only run with a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning. It was his second homer in as many days following a 12-game stretch without a long ball. Conforto's power has run hot and cold this season -- he went deep three times over his first five games of the campaign, then homered just twice over his subsequent 29 contests before his current two-game long-ball streak. • Sonny Gray coughs up three homers in loss to Brewers
Sonny Gray was torched for six runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Gray was tagged for a season-high three round-trippers in this one after allowing just one long ball in his previous five starts combined. The dismal outing also snapped a five-start streak in which he allowed two earned runs or fewer to kick off his Cardinals debut. The only positives here were that he struck out six and only issued one walk. He’ll carry a pristine 2.29 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 44/6 K/BB ratio across 35 1/3 innings (six starts) into a favorable road tilt on Tuesday against the Angels. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:20 pm

    • Ben Lively goes 5 2/3 frames in loss to White Sox
Ben Lively allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Lively got into trouble right away as Andrew Vaughn, Paul DeJong and Tommy Pham got to him for run-scoring hits in the first two frames, which was more than enough to saddle him with a loss. He struck out two and also issued three walks. The 32-year-old journeyman has been an unexpected bright spot for Cleveland this season, registering a sparkling 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26/9 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (five starts). He’ll face the defending World Series champion Rangers on Tuesday in his next outing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm

    • Conforto hits solo homer in loss to Rockies
Michael Conforto homered while going 2-for-3 in a blowout loss to the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Conforto also drew a walk, so a nice day for him on a day where the rest of the Giants were not very good. The 31-year-old connected on a solo homer off Cal Quantrill and now has seven homers and 20 RBI in the first month-plus of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm

    • Could be available in relief
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Brown could be available out of the bullpen for the next few days, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Brown last pitched on Sunday and had been on turn for a start Saturday in Detroit, but Cristian Javier (neck) is returning that day and Justin Verlander will move ahead of Brown to pitch Sunday on regular rest. Brown seemingly would be set up to make a start Monday versus the Athletics if he doesn't pitch in relief before then, but it doesn't appear that has been decided yet. Espada hasn't ruled out the possibility of using a six-man rotation for a while, which would leave room for both Brown an Spencer Arrighetti to keep making starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:48 pm
    • Homer, three hits in win
Conforto went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.

Advice: Conforto jumped on a hanging four-seamer from Peter Lambert to lead off the second inning and crushed it over the wall in right field to open a six-run rally for San Francisco. The outfielder would later add a single in the same frame before finishing the contest with his third three-hit performance of the season. Conforto has now hit safely in four of his last five games, while the home run was his first since April 22. He's batting .269 in May with three RBI and three runs scored and has also drawn a walk in three straight contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:18 am

    • Hit hard in second loss
Lorenzen (2-2) took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the A's, surrendering six runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Seven of the nine hits off Lorenzen went for extra bases, including homers by Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris. The right-hander has had a bumpy beginning to his Rangers tenure, but he's least providing some length and has worked exactly six innings in four straight outings. Lorenzen will take a 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23:14 K:BB through 29 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Guardians. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:56 am
