    • Christopher Morel continues power surge vs. Brewers
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Brewers.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Morel took Tobias Myers deep for a two-run homer in the third to extend the Cubs lead. Morel can certainly hit homers in bunches, as he’s now gone yard in three straight games and four of his last six. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.292/.426 with seven homers, 20 runs scored, 20 RBI, and three steals across 137 plate appearances. Despite the low batting average, Morel has significantly cut down his strikeout rate so far this season, a good sign that we can see his numbers improve as we get into the summer. • On base three times
Caballero went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Caballero collected a pair of hits for the second consecutive game and also drew his first walk in 12 starts. He also remains busy on the basepaths, though he was caught stealing for the fifth time in 14 attempts on the campaign. Caballero hasn't offered much power across 113 plate appearances, but he does have 14 runs scored and 12 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:07 am
    • Vidal steals two bags, doubles twice in loss
Vidal Bruján doubled twice and stole two bases in a loss to the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: Bruján drove in the only run of the game for the Marlins in the ninth with a double off Lucas Erceg. The pair of two-baggers with a single now have Bruján slashing .298/.377/.447, and the swipes are his first of the season. Especially with Luis Arraez heading to San Diego, Bruján should continue to see a lot of playing time, and so far he’s taken advantage of his run. Rotoworld Friday, 9:07 pm

    • Homers again Friday
Morel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Morel snapped a scoreless tie with two outs in the sixth inning, launching a solo shot to centerfield off Joe Ross to put the Cubs ahead 1-0. Morel now has homers in back-to-back games and three in his last five contests following a span of 16 games without a long ball. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .210/.286/.403 through 133 plate appearances this year with six homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:27 pm

    • Checkup coming soon
McLain (shoulder) is about a week away from a follow-up appointment that will give the Reds a better idea on his return timetable, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: If all goes well with his exam, McLain could start working out at the Reds' spring training facility in Arizona. He doesn't have an official return date yet. "It's still way too early to determine a time when he would get back to us, but the goal would still be early August ideally," said manager David Bell. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:43 pm

    • Christopher Morel swats three-run homer in loss
Christopher Morel connected on a three-run homer Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: Morel extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a three-run blast off Adrian Houser. The second-year infielder has gone deep five times, and he’s now up to 17 RBI over Chicago’s 32 games. It’s nice to see some offensive success again, as Morel has scuffled as of late to drop his line to .209/.287/.383. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:11 pm

    • Back on bench Thursday
Brujan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Brujan had started in five of the previous six games, with the first three coming at third base and the last two coming at shortstop. He had been filling in for Tim Anderson (thumb) the past two days, but Anderson is on track to return to his usual spot at shortstop for the series finale with the Rockies. Brujan looks set to vie with Emmanuel Rivera for playing time at the hot corner moving forward, though both could be headed for reserve roles soon with Jake Burger (oblique) having already initiated a rehab assignment and poised to return from the 10-day injured list in the near future. • Starting at shortstop Wednesday
Brujan will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Brujan had been set to get the day off, but he'll be pressed into the starting nine at shortstop after Tim Anderson (thumb) was scratched from the lineup. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:08 pm

    • Moves to bench Wednesday
Brujan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: With Tim Anderson (thumb) returning to action following a one-game absence, Brujan will head to the bench after filling in as Miami's starting shortstop in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win. Before Tuesday, Brujan had started three of the Marlins' previous four games at third base, and he'll continue to vie with Emmanuel Rivera for playing time at that position until Jake Burger (oblique) returns from the 10-day injured list.
