      Mason Miller earned a save by preserving a 3-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

      Advice: Miller, who hadn’t pitched in two days, didn’t make it easy on himself. After getting the first two batters out, he allowed a single to Yandy Diaz and walked Brandon Lowe to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out Isaac Paredes to end the game. It was his 11th save of the year to go along with a 1.88 ERA. He has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and with the A’s proving to be more competitive than many expected, Miller should easily eclipse the 20-save mark this year if he can stay healthy.     • Zack Littell takes tough luck loss to A’s
      Zack Littell allowed three runs (none earned) on five hits in seven innings in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

      Advice: Littell also struck out nine and walked just one. A Brandon Lowe fielding error got the sixth inning started, and after a walk, Littell was able to get two outs before giving up a three-run shot to Miguel Andujar. That was the difference in the game. The 28-year-old had a dominant performance from his splitter on Tuesday and rode it to a 31 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW overall.     • Brayan Bello strikes out seven in win over Orioles
      Brayan Bello allowed three runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

      Advice: The right-hander struck out seven and walked two on the evening. Bello had a rough first inning, allowing all three runs on three hits, but he bounced back exceptionally well and had his entire arsenal working, registering a 38 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. Bello’s changeup was particularly effective on Tuesday, getting 10 whiffs on 21 swings, but he also had a 38 percent whiff rate on his slider which will be a big pitch for him if he wants to take the next step in his development.       Bello (6-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Orioles, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Baltimore got to Bello early Tuesday, scoring three runs in the opening frame, before the right-hander settled in and blanked the Orioles over his subsequent four frames while allowing just one additional hit. It's the fifth win for Bello in his last six starts. His ERA sits at 4.18 through nine outings (47.1 innings) this year with a 1.18 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB.       Advice: Freeman followed Mookie Betts’ go-ahead 10th-inning single with a majestic 383-foot missile to right field off Mets reliever Jorge López to give Los Angeles a commanding three-run lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. The 34-year-old also delivered a key run-scoring single in the eighth inning that jump-started the Dodgers’ late-inning rally.       Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lower-back tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The 21-year-old missed some time in mid-May due to a back issue, and it apparently remains bothersome as the month comes to a close. Carter is without a hit in his past 20 at-bats, and the injury could help explain some of those struggles. It's unclear how long the young outfielder is expected to be sidelined, but the organization will likely want him to get some at-bats in the minors before he rejoins the big club.       Rangers placed OF Evan Carter on the 10-day injured list with a back sprain.

      Advice: Carter will ostensibly swap places with fellow top prospect Wyatt Langford as he’ll get some extra time off in an effort to reset mentally after batting just .165 (15-for-91) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 contests. The 21-year-old top prospect hits the shelf in the midst of an 0-for-20 hitless streak at the dish dating back to May 10. It’s far too early to be concerned long-term with Carter, but this season has certainly been an unexpected speed bump following last year’s stellar late-season debut and playoff performance.
