    • Nationals bring Harold Ramírez back to majors
Nationals selected the contract of OF Harold Ramírez from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Trey Lipscomb was sent down. Ramírez figures to take over as Eddie Rosario’s platoon partner versus lefties. He could also outproduce Joey Meneses against righties, but the Nationals probably aren’t going to want to play him over Meneses at first base. In fact, they gave him just one start there in his seven games for Rochester. He played right field twice and DH’d four times while hitting .375/.516/.417 in 31 plate appearances. • Contract selected by Washington
The Nationals selected Ramirez's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Advice: Ramirez joined the Nationals on a minor-league deal June 15 and had to wait a little under two weeks before getting the call to the big club. Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to open up a spot on the 26-man active roster for Ramirez, who will likely serve as a short-side platoon player during his time with Washington. Ramirez previously posted a .268/.284/.305 slash line in 169 plate appearances with the Rays before being cut earlier this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:00 pm

    • Joining big club in San Diego
Ramirez joined the Nationals in San Diego and could be formally added to the active roster prior to Monday's series opener with the Padres, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Ramirez started the season with the Rays, slashing .268/.284/.305 before being released June 14. After signing with Washington, he appeared in seven games with Triple-A Rochester, going 9-for-24 with four RBI. The Nationals haven't yet confirmed that Ramirez has been called up to the big club, but more details on his status should arrive shortly before the 9:40 p.m. ET start time of Monday's game. • Filling in for banged-up Varsho
Kiermaier will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Kiermaier will get a third consecutive start, but he'll most likely be the odd man out of the Toronto outfield once Daulton Varsho (back) -- who is out of the lineup for a second straight day -- returns to action. Since returning from the injured list May 4, Kiermaier is slashing .177/.224/.329 over a stretch of 35 games. Rotowire.com Jun 24, 1:35 pm

    • Swipes bag in win
Frelick went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Frelick started June 0-for-12, but he's gone 14-for-47 (.298) with six multi-hit efforts over his last 15 contests. The outfielder is up to 10 steals on 12 attempts, providing a bit of speed deep in the lineup. He's hitting .258 with a .666 OPS, two home runs, 15 RBI, 34 runs scored, eight doubles and one triple over 263 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Jun 23, 7:34 pm

    • Idle against southpaw
Rosario isn't in the Nationals' lineup Sunday versus the Rockies.

Advice: With left-hander Kyle Freeland on the bump for Colorado, the lefty-hitting Rosario will take a seat on Washington's bench. His absence will move Nick Senzel into the DH role while Trey Lipscomb starts at the hot corner, batting seventh. Rotowire.com Jun 23, 10:44 am

    • Chance to return Monday
Davis (concussion) has resumed most baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Davis has been on the 7-day injured list since June 14 and had continued to experience some mild symptoms as of Friday. As a result, the earliest he will be activated from the IL is Monday, though his absence could extend beyond that. Rotowire.com Jun 22, 11:27 pm

    • Getting regular at-bats
Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Nationals.

Advice: Goodman was in the lineup for the sixth time in the last seven games -- three of which have come at catcher -- due to the absences of Elias Diaz (calf) and Charlie Blackmon (hamstring). He's gone 7-for-25 in that span while also popping four homers. Neither Blackmon nor Diaz have a clear timeline to return, meaning Goodman should continue to play regularly in the short term, perhaps even enough behind the plate to gain catcher eligibility. • Big game in return to majors
Loperfido went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's win over Baltimore.

Advice: Loperfido was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday and made his first MLB appearance since June 10. He wasted no time making an impact, singling on the second pitch he saw in his first at-bat and later coming around to score. He added a pair of RBI doubles during Houston's monster nine-run sixth inning. Loperfido is forcing his way into more playing time at the top level with his consistent success. He's slashing .372/.413/.512 through his first 16 career MLB games. Rotowire.com Jun 22, 5:07 am
