    • Finally gets in win column
Corbin (1-3) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over five innings in a 5-1 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out four.

Advice: The veteran southpaw tossed 54 of 86 pitches before exiting with a 3-1 lead, and the Washington bullpen was able to shut down Boston the rest of the way. Corbin has begun to show faint signs of turning things around, and over his last four starts he has a 3.54 ERA while serving up only one homer in 20.1 innings. His 14:8 K:BB and 1.57 WHIP over that stretch aren't particularly encouraging, however. He'll try to build on this performance in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the White Sox. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 am
    • Earns first MLB win in relief
Brown (1-1) tossed 3.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Friday's 7-2 victory over the Pirates. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out six.

Advice: Starter Javier Assad got the hook after 4.1 innings and 89 pitches, which opened the door for Brown to provide some valuable long relief. The 24-year-old was sharp as he recorded a season- and career-best six strikeouts, and the rookie picked up his first MLB win in the process. Brown's fantasy value is limited in his long relief role, but he's pitched well in his debut, compiling 33 strikeouts across 31.1 innings and posting a solid 3.73 ERA, and he has some upside moving forward. • Rewarded with another start
Vasquez is slated to start Monday's game against the Rockies at Petco Park.

Advice: Yu Darvish returned from the 15-day injured list and rejoined the Padres rotation earlier this week, but San Diego will still have an opening for Vasquez as its fifth starter after Joe Musgrove (elbow) hit the shelf May 5. Though Vasquez has been largely unimpressive over his seven starts between the big club and Triple-A El Paso this season, he was solid his last time out Tuesday on the road against the Cubs, striking out six while allowing one run over 4.1 innings in a no-decision. • A.J. Puk (shoulder) sharp Friday in relief at AAA
A.J. Puk (shoulder) struck out three in a perfect inning on Friday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Puk has been shifted back to the bullpen indefinitely after scuffling out of the gate in Miami’s starting rotation and has looked sharp in a couple rehab appearances in relief. The 29-year-old southpaw figures to return at some point in the next few weeks, if not sooner. Rotoworld Today, 6:20 am

    • Royals option Daniel Lynch IV to Triple-A
Royals optioned LHP Daniel Lynch IV to Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Lynch was shipped back to the minors prior to Friday’s contest against the Angels with Alec Marsh returning from the injured list. The 27-year-old lefty has reeled off seven scoreless frames over two appearances (one start) this season in the big leagues. He should be back in a couple weeks, if not sooner. • Appears in Complex League game
Marquez (elbow) threw a scoreless inning in an Arizona Complex League game Friday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Marquez has been making appearances in extended spring training, but this was another step forward in his recovery. He'll continue to ramp up before embarking on a rehab assignment, but he remains on track for a return in the middle of the season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:05 am

    • Fans seven in no-decision
Marsh did not factor into the decision Friday against the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Marsh (elbow) looked sharp in his return from the injured list Friday night, tossing a formidable 85 pitches. The Kansas City right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.53 overall with his effort against the Angels. He also stayed hot after throwing 10 shutout innings in his two starts before the injured list stint. Marsh is scheduled to make his next start against the Mariners on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:50 pm

    • Solid in no-decision
Canning did not factor into the decision Friday against Kansas City, allowing three hits and two walks over 5.2 shutout innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Canning produced his first scoreless start of the season Friday night as he held the Royals in check over his 90 pitches. The 28-year-old has been solid over his last five starts, tossing a 3.67 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB overing 27 innings. Canning is slated to face a struggling Cardinals offense at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:48 pm
    • Collects second save
Beeks picked up the save Friday against Texas. He pitched a clean inning without a strikeout.

Advice: Beeks only required nine total pitches to retire the bottom of the Rangers order for his second save. Justin Lawrence, the typical Rockies closer, was used in a high-leverage seventh inning against the top of the order, opening the save opportunity for Beeks. However, the left-handed Beeks may be the second choice for saves in Colorado as he's been dependable, tossing a 2.45 ERA with 14:8 K:BB over 18.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:24 pm
