    • Dominant in seventh victory
Cease (7-6) earned the win over Washington on Wednesday, pitching seven scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit and issued two walks while striking out nine batters.

Advice: The only hit Cease surrendered during his seven frames was a two-out single by Nick Senzel in the fifth inning. Remarkably, this was the San Diego right-hander's third outing this season during which he gave up exactly one hit in seven frames, and he unsurprisingly has picked up a victory in all three of those starts. Cease had been struggling coming into Wednesday, giving up 11 runs over his previous two starts covering 8.1 innings during his worst two-game stretch of the campaign. He's had a few clunkers among his 17 appearances this season but has solid numbers overall with a 3.84 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 125:30 K:BB across 98.1 frames. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:50 pm
    • Fans career-high 10 in win
Arrighetti (4-6) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings in a 7-1 victory over the Rockies. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.

Advice: The rookie right-hander put together the best effort of his brief career, setting a new career high in Ks while generating an eye-popping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 89 pitches. The quality start was only Arrighetti's second in 14 trips to the mound this season, but he has given up three runs or less in six of his last seven outings, posting a 4.18 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 32.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to build on this performance in his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 pm
    • Dylan Cease fans nine in dominant win over Nats
Dylan Cease delivered an impressive performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Nationals, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander allowed just one hit — a two-out single by Nick Senzel in the fifth inning — while issuing a pair of walks in the contest. Cease generated 16 swings and misses in the ballgame — nine of those on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He now sits at 7-6 on the season with a 3.84 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 125/30 K/BB ratio over 98 1/3 innings through his first 17 starts on the season. He’ll try to replicate this brilliant outing when he squares off against the Rangers in Arlington on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
    • Beginning rehab assignment
Priester (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Priester has been on the injured list since June 6, but he has been given the green light to test his injured lat in a competitive setting. The Pirates haven't specified how many rehab outings the 24-year-old will need, but it's likely he returns from the IL before the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:35 pm
    • Spencer Arrighett whiffs 10 in seven-inning gem
Spencer Arrighetti struck out 10 over seven shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rockies.

Advice: Arrighetti put together the strongest outing of his rookie campaign yet on Wednesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park, scattering three hits over seven scoreless frames, while recording his first-ever double-digit strikeout performance. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. It’s notable that this unexpectedly brilliant effort comes after he was torched by the White Sox and Tigers, respectively, in his previous two outings. There’s definitely some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues, but he’s been the quintessential boom-or-bust dice roll over the last few weeks. He’ll square off against the struggling Blue Jays on Tuesday in his next outing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:59 pm
    • Loses again
Heaney (2-9) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Heaney fell to his ninth loss of 2024, a total that only trails Dakota Hudson. However, seven of those losses have come despite Heaney allowing three or fewer earned runs, a result of inconsistent defense and a Rangers offensive attack that's underwhelmed compared to expectations. Still, Heaney has been a reliable option since the start of May, owning a 3.26 ERA and a 49:11 K:BB in 49.2 innings. The lefty is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday at Baltimore. • Hit hard in loss
Irvin (6-4) took the loss against the Guardians on Tuesday, allowing eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits with no walks and one strikeout over four innings.

Advice: Irvin allowed three runs in the first two innings and then five runs in a disastrous fifth frame that included a three-run home run by Jose Ramirez. An error in the fifth resulted in four of the runs being unearned, but the lefty allowed 10 hard-hit balls and only generated five swinging strikes in his second consecutive rough outing. Irvin has yielded 13 runs (nine earned) in those two outings and now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 74:15 K:BB in 77 innings this season. The 30-year-old will try to get back on track in a home matchup against the Rangers this weekend. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:00 pm

    • Heaney allows two earned runs in loss to Brewers
Andrew Heaney allowed two earned runs over five innings while striking out four in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Heaney scattered two runs across five frames, allowing an RBI single to Jackson Chourio in the third inning and a solo homer to Joey Ortiz in the fifth. The veteran lefty did a nice job of limiting runs but received only one run of support from his offense, as he remains stuck on just two wins for the year. Sitting on a 2-8 record with a 4.17 ERA, Heaney could have a tough time earning that third win on Sunday when he’s set to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:36 pm

    • Cole Irvin hit hard Tuesday in loss to Guardians
Cole Irvin was lit up for eight runs (four earned) over four innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Irvin was torched for 10 hits, including a three-run homer by José Ramírez in the fourth inning prior to his early exit. He notched only one strikeout and didn’t issue a walk. He’ll face the Rangers on Sunday his next time out. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:26 pm
