    • Julio Rodríguez crushes two-run homer as M’s roll
Julio Rodríguez crushed a two-run homer on Sunday afternoon, powering the Mariners to an 8-4 victory over the visiting Athletics.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder has been off to a painfully slow start at the dish this season, so it was good to see him launch a 409-foot (109.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Alex Wood in the second inning — increasing the Mariners’ early lead to 5-0. Rodríguez also doubled, walked and scored a pair of runs in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-3. For the season, he’s slashing .255/.310/.323 with two homers, 13 RBI and nine swipes. • Seby Zavala hits first homer in win over Athletics
Seby Zavala clubbed his first home run of the 2024 season on Sunday as the Mariners bested the Athletics in Seattle.

Advice: The light-hitting 30-year-old backstop victimized Kyle Muller for his 357-foot (97.1 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning, extending the Mariners’ lead to 8-2. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the afternoon. For the season, he’s now slashing .200/.200/.367 with a homer and two RBI. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Luis Castillo punches out eight in win over A’s
Luis Castillo picked up his fourth victory of the season on Sunday, limiting the Athletics to two runs on seven hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 31-year-old right-hander punched out eight batters on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. Both of the runs that Castillo allowed came via the long ball — with Max Schuemann blasting a solo shot in the fifth inning and Abraham Toro crushing one in the sixth inning. He got 14 whiffs on 100 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 30 percent. Now 4-5 on the season, he’ll carry a 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 64/11 K/BB ratio (54 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Alex Wood lasts two innings in loss to Mariners
Alex Wood lasted just two innings in Sunday’s loss to the Mariners, giving up five runs (one earned) on four hits.

Advice: Wood also issued a base on balls and recorded a strikeout in the abbreviated outing. The M’s scratched out a run against him in the first inning on an RBI single by Mitch Garver. They tacked on four more runs in the second — the final two on a blast from Julio Rodriguez. Wood generated just four swings and misses on 60 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll carry a troublesome 5.26 ERA and 1.78 WHIP into Friday’s matchup against the Royals in Kansas City. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Homers in victory
Tucker went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Tucker took Tigers starter Jack Flaherty deep for a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning, giving Houston a 2-0 lead over Detroit. The outfielder has now gone deep 13 times this season and five times in his last six contests. Over the last six games, he went 5-for-20 with five home runs, seven RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

Meyers went 3-for-3 with three RBI in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Meyers entered the game as a pinch hitter for Trey Cabbage in the top of the seventh inning, notching an RBI single. He proceeded to add two more RBI base knocks in the eighth and ninth frames, making the most of his three at-bats in the contest. The outfielder is now batting .360 with two triples, a double, four RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base over 25 at-bats in May. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago

    • Jung Hoo Lee suffers dislocated shoulder on Sunday
The Giants announced that Jung Hoo Lee suffered a dislocated shoulder after crashing into the outfield wall during Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Giants’ skipper Bob Melvin called it a separated shoulder during his update, but the Giants corrected it to dislocated. He’ll undergo an MRI exam on Monday to determine the severity of the issue, but it sounds like he’s going to miss substantial time and could even be shelved for the remainder of the 2024 season. It’s a brutal blow to a Giants’ outfield that has lost Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Jorge Soler (shoulder) already in recent days. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

The 41-year-old was coming off of allowing seven runs over five innings against the Yankees on Tuesday, rebounding with his third quality start over five outings in 2024. Verlander now owns a 3.38 ERA with 23 strikeouts over 29.1 innings this season and his next projected start is set to come Friday at home versus the Brewers. Rotowire.com 56 minutes ago
