    • Will be opener Friday
Armstrong will serve as an opener for Friday's game against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The right-hander will be first into the game before handing things off to Tyler Alexander, who is slated to handle the bulk of the innings. It will be the fourth opener assignment this season for Armstrong, who has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 8:2 K:BB over four innings in the first three outings. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
    • Tigers call up Mason Englert
Tigers recalled reliever Mason Englert from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Englert will take Alex Lange’s spot in the bullpen. The 24-year-old has been solid in Triple-A with a 2.35 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 23 innings while striking out 34 and walking nine. He has not yet been able to carry that success over to the MLB level but perhaps now is the time. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
    • Tigers send Alex Lange to minors
Tigers optioned reliever Alex Lange to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Lange was publicly chewed out by his manager A.J. Hinch on the mound during Wednesday’s game and despite Hinch claiming that had nothing to do with the demotion, we find that hard to believe. Going into Wednesday’s game, Lange had allowed just four earned runs in his previous 14 appearances. His command will certainly come and go, and it had been poor in the last three appearances, but the 28-year-old only has two bad outings all season. This feels like a situation that is heading for a break-up and if Lange is able to find his way onto a team that can improve his command, he still has a future as a solid reliever. • Optioned to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Lange to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

Advice: A day after allowing four earned runs in one inning during Wednesday's loss to the Royals, Lange will be sent to Triple-A in order to get back on track. The 28-year-old owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.77 WHIP alongside a 21:17 K:BB through 18.2 innings this season, and he figures to return to Detroit's bullpen once he starts turning in promising results with Toledo. In the meantime, Mason Englert will come up from Triple-A to take Lange's place. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Tigers recalled Englert from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Englert has put up a 2.35 ERA and 34:9 K:BB over 23 innings with Toledo this season. The 24-year-old collected a 5.46 ERA across 31 appearances for the Tigers last season. He should operate in low-leverage situations. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago
    • Mets claimed Ty Adcock on waivers
Mets claimed RHP Ty Adcock on waivers from the Tigers and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Adcock had struggled this year with a 9.00 ERA in six innings for the Tigers in Triple-A while striking out nine and walking six. He had also struggled in two innings at Triple-A for the Mariners and was waived in April. However, the 27-year-old was solid as a rookie in 2023, pitching to a 3.45 ERA across 12 appearances, so the Mets will hope to recapture some of that. Rotoworld Today, 11:29 am

    • Claimed by Mets
The Mets claimed Adcock off waivers from Detroit on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Adcock was DFA'd by the Tigers on Saturday, but he will reclaim a spot on a 40-man roster as he moves to New York. The 27-year-old righty has allowed eight earned runs across 8.1 innings between the Mariners' and Tigers' Triple-A affiliates, and a significant turnaround would likely be necessary before Adcock receives a call up to the majors. • Returns to action at Triple-A
Bido (finger) started Saturday for Triple-A Las Vegas in the club's 11-3 loss to El Paso, covering four innings and striking out three while allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks.

Advice: After being called up from Las Vegas on May 8, Bido started the second game of the Athletics' doubleheader with the Rangers that day but exited midway through the third inning after developing a blister on his pitching hand. He was returned to Las Vegas two days later, but he didn't start last week while he was given more time to heal up from the finger issue. Ostensibly healthy again, Bido should continue to make regular turns out of the Las Vegas rotation but will be near the top of the list for a call-up if the Athletics should require a spot starter again. • Collects first win
King (1-1) pitched two scoreless and hitless innings, walking one and striking out one while earning the win Wednesday over the Orioles.

Advice: King provided much-needed length out of the bullpen following a rain delay that ended starter Kyle Gibson's day after four innings. King has kept runs off the board in six of his nine outings since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis in early May. He's at a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB over 12.2 innings while adding two holds and a blown save across 11 appearances. King isn't a regular part of the Cardinals' high-leverage mix, so his fantasy appeal remains low. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am
