Tuesday's road outing was better than his start last Wednesday in Atlanta, but it still doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.       Charlie Morton was uninvolved in the decision against the Cubs on Tuesday after allowing two runs — one earned — in five innings against the Cubs.

      Advice: Morton matched his season high with eight strikeouts. In the entire history of MLB, only Nolan Ryan (five times), Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens and Orlando Hernández have managed to strike out at least a batter an inning at age 40 or over (min. 130 innings).       Suarez (9-0) earned the win Tuesday over the Rangers, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings.

      Advice: Suarez was stellar again Tuesday, holding Texas to a lone run on a Marcus Semien double in the third inning while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. The 28-year-old southpaw has been a revelation for the Phillies this season -- his ERA is down to a sparkling 1.36 with a 0.79 WHIP and 49:9 K:BB and he boasts an MLB-high nine wins across 10 starts (66 innings).     • Ranger Suárez strikes out 10 in win over TEX
      Ranger Suárez allowed one run on five hits in seven innings in a win over the Rangers, striking out 10 and walking just two.

      Advice: He just keeps doing it. Suárez now has a 1.36 ERA on the season to go along with a 9-0 record. He posted just an 18 percent whiff rate on Tuesday but did have a solid 27 percent CSW and he pounded the zone with his sinker and four-seam. No pitch besides the four-seam or sinker had a zone rate over 33 percent, but it didn’t seem to matter on the night. It’s hard to imagine Suárez keeping this up, and his start this weekend in Colorado is certainly risky, but you can’t bench the left-hander while he’s pitching like this.       Rasmussen (elbow) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday at the Rays' spring training facility, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: An MLB.com report earlier this month suggested that Rasmussen had been slated to pitch in an extended spring training game May 20, but it's unclear if that actually came to fruition. In any case, Rasmussen's ability to step back on a mound Tuesday represents a positive step forward in his recovery from the internal brace procedure he underwent on his right elbow July 24, 2023. Though the hybrid procedure is designed to accelerate Rasmussen's recovery timeline compared to Tommy John surgery, expect the Rays to ease him along slowly through his throwing program, given he previously underwent two Tommy John surgeries in his career. President of baseball operations Erik Neander said in spring training that Rasmussen could be an option to rejoin the big-league pitching staff in the latter months of the 2024 season if all goes well in his rehab program.       Advice: Gurriel snapped a 26-game homer drought with his eighth-inning blast. The outfielder has gone 11-for-45 (.244) over his last 12 contests, adding just five RBI and five runs scored in that span. He's at a .236/.284/.385 slash line with six homers, 27 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases over 44 contests this season.       Advice: Rengifo has gone 4-for-18 with three steals, one RBI and two extra-base hits over four contests since he returned from an illness. The infielder is slashing .312/.364/.450 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored and 12 thefts through 32 games this season.
