• Lands on IL
The Brewers placed Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day IL on Saturday.

Advice: Wiemer left Friday's game against the Cubs after his left knee buckled while fielding the ball in the bottom of the eighth inning. He was called up to the Brewers on April 14, and he has gone 4-for-23 with two runs since then. With Wiemer moved to the IL, Milwaukee called up Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Expected to join big club
The Cubs are expected to call up Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Iowa before Saturday's game against the Brewers, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Mastrobuoni made the Cubs' Opening Day roster and was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on April 18 after Patrick Wisdom returned from the 10-day IL due to a back injury. Mastrobuoni has appeared in 10 games for Iowa, slashing .231/.318/.436 with 10 runs, five doubles, one home run and four RBI over 44 plate appearances. Matt Mervis is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for Mastrobuoni. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Dylan Carlson (shoulder) nearing return to STL
Dylan Carlson (shoulder) has returned from his rehab assignment and is with the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Keep in mind that with the Cardinals is not the same thing as being activated off the injured list. That being said, a return is obviously close for the 25-year-old outfielder. Once active, Carlson should be an option for the outfield, but not necessarily one fantasy managers should be running to the waiver wire to add. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Participating in drills
Suzuki (oblique) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday with Cody Bellinger, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Suzuki suffered a right oblique strain April 14, and he was placed on the 10-day IL one day later. He was limited to light activity, but has since progressed to on-field batting practice. After his batting session Wednesday, Suzuki noted that he felt he was 80 percent recovered from his oblique strain and could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues to progress, per Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune. • Increasing baseball activities
Bellinger (ribs) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Bellinger landed on the 10-day IL on April 24 after fracturing his right rib against the Astros the day prior. It's a good sign that the 2019 NL MVP is taking the first step in his recovery, and Cubs manager Craig Counsel suggested that Bellinger could return to the club next week, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com. In his absence, Pete Crow-Armstrong has served as the primary starter in center field and is slashing .259/.250/.444 with one home run and seven RBI over 29 plate appearances this season. • Bellinger, Suzuki participating in drills Saturday
Cody Bellinger (rib) and Seiya Suzuki (oblique) are hitting and participating in defensive drills Saturday.

Advice: Bellinger and Suzuki are key cogs of the Chicago offense, and both are working their way before from significant injuries. Both will need rehab assignments before they can return to the lineup, but it does appear both Suzuki and Bellinger could be back with the club before the end of May. Rotoworld Today, 8:29 am

  • Begins rehab assignment
Friedl (wrist) began a rehab assignment Thursday and is 1-for-7 with a walk over two games for Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Friedl, batting in his customary leadoff spot, played seven innings at shortstop Thursday and a full game Friday as the designated hitter. Reds manager David Bell told Mike Petraglia of MLB.com that he'll have a better idea of Friedl's return timeline by the end of the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 6:27 am

  • Doubles, scores in loss
Pederson started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pederson had one of Arizona's three hits, a leadoff double in the fifth inning, and came in to score the team's lone run on a Eugenio Suarez single. Pederson leads the Diamondbacks in average (.318), on-base percentage (.447) and slugging (.515), but he's not an everyday starter. He serves as the primary DH against right-handers and has just four plate appearances against southpaws. Rotowire.com Today, 6:03 am
  • Alek Thomas (hamstring) goes 1-for-4 in Triple-A
Alek Thomas (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Advice: Thomas began his rehab assignment from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him since the start of April. The 24-year-old will likely play around a week of games in the Pacific Coast League before entering the outfield rotation for the Diamondbacks in the middle of May. Rotoworld Today, 5:36 am
