    Advice: Improved control has been a big key for Hicks in his successful run in the Giants rotation, but this is the second time in his last three starts that he’s walked four batters, giving him14 walks in 38 innings for the year.     Ryan Helsley picked up a save Friday against the White Sox without allowing a run in his inning of work.

    Advice: Helsley didn’t give up a hit, didn’t give up a walk, and didn’t pick up a strikeout. The right-hander needed just eight pitches — seven of those strikes — against a Chicago team that looked like it wanted to be anywhere else.     Advice: The Phillies scored three times off Hicks in the third inning before tacking on another run in the fourth, handing the right-hander his first loss of the year. While the four runs against Hicks were a season high, he's still yet to allow more than two earned runs through seven starts. Hicks still sports a stellar 1.89 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 30:14 K:BB across 38 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Colorado.     Perez (1-2) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings as the Pirates fell 3-2 to the Rockies. He struck out four without walking a batter.

    Advice: The veteran lefty was engaged in a scoreless pitchers' duel with Cal Quantrill through five innings, but Perez ran out of gas in the sixth. He exited after 88 pitches (61 strikes), coming up two outs short of his fourth quality start of the season.     The Padres traded Go, Dillon Head, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee to the Marlins on Friday in exchange for Luis Arraez, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: The Padres signed Go to a two-year deal in January with the expectation that he would serve as a high-leverage option out of the bullpen. However, a poor performance during spring training caused the 25-year-old reliever to be optioned to Triple-A and later demoted again to Double-A San Antonio, where he has posted a 4.38 ERA and 1.49 WHIP alongside a 15:4 K:BB through 12.1 innings. The Marlins may be willing to give Go a chance in the majors given their depleted pitching staff and relatively weak bullpen, but his Double-A stats don't spark much optimism.
