    • Martin Pérez heading to IL with groin injury
Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters that Martin Pérez will be placed on the injured list with his groin injury.

Advice: Pérez left Sunday’s start against Atlanta with a left groin injury, and the southpaw will now miss at least a couple of weeks while he’s away from the team. There’s no word yet as to who will take Pérez’s place in the rotation, but Pittsburgh will have to add a new arm to the group over the weekend. Quinn Priester could make sense, as he pitched Sunday and would be on turn for Pérez’s spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:16 am

    • Bats second in return
Riley went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Seeing his first game action since May 12, Riley looked a bit rusty but appeared fully recovered from an intercostal strain. The third baseman hit second in the order with lefty Mitchell Parker on the bump for the Nats, and that could be his new home in the batting order against southpaws with Atlanta shuffling things around in the wake of a season-ending knee injury for Ronald Acuna. Through 167 plate appearances this year, Riley is slashing a disappointing .238/.311/.377 with three homers and 18 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:48 am

    • Takes first loss Monday
Walker (3-1) took the loss against San Francisco on Monday, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

Advice: The positive is that Walker was able to complete six frames for the first time in his past three starts, but he was far from effective in doing so. The right-hander gave up a season-high nine hits, while the five earned runs were the most he's allowed since his season debut April 28. Despite Walker's adequate 3-1 record, he's been unimpressive with a 5.51 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB over 32.2 innings on the season. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:28 pm
    • Falls to 2-3
Lynn (2-3) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks over six innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Reds.

Advice: All three runs against Lynn came in the first two innings but he was able to settle in to deliver a quality start. He's thrown six frames in each of his last two outings after failing to do so in his previous five starts. The veteran righty is 1-3 with a 4.39 ERA over his last five appearances. On the year, Lynn owns a 53:23 K:BB and a 3.45 ERA through 57.1 innings. His next start is expected to be in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:39 pm

    • Lance Lynn delivers quality start in defeat
Lance Lynn yielded three runs — one earned — in six innings Monday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Lynn has lowered his ERA from 4.17 to 3.45 in his last two outings, partly because of some unearned runs. Unfortunately, simply keeping the Cardinals in games isn’t enough to generate wins right now, and Lynn is 2-3 in spite of a solid open. Rotoworld Monday, 6:00 pm

    • Walker allows five earned in loss Monday
Taijuan Walker allowed six runs (five earned) in six innings and took the loss against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Walker allowed nine hits, two walks and struck out four. He completed six innings for the fourth time in six starts this year, but the five earned runs allowed increased his ERA to 5.51. After starting 3-0, Walker hasn’t won any of his last three starts. The 31-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cardinals at home this weekend.

    • Chourio has two hits, RBI Monday
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with an RBI double against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Chourio tacked on with an RBI double in the eighth inning to extend the Brewers’ lead to 5-0. Despite his lofty prospect status and contract, he’s hitting just .218 with a .603 OPS on the season.

    • Joey Meneses heads to bench with Lane Thomas back
Joey Meneses is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Braves.

Advice: It may just be a routine day off for Meneses, who has started seven straight games. However, it’s also the first game in a month with Lane Thomas back in the lineup, so perhaps there’s something to take note of here. With Thomas back in the lineup against a right-handed pitcher, Eddie Rosario moves to left field and Jesse Winker will DH, which means there’s no room for Meneses. The 32-year-old has hit better than Winker of late so that figures to be the main position battle to watch in the coming days. Rotoworld Monday, 11:23 am
    • Bryson Stott gets a day off on Monday
Bryson Stott is not in the lineup for the Phillies game against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: It’s a routine day off for Stott, which was a decision made easier by the Giants starting left-hander Blake Snell. Edmundo Sosa will move up to sixth in the lineup while Whit Merrifield will play second base and hit seventh. Cristian Pache will also start in left field with Brandon Marsh sitting against the lefty. Rotoworld Monday, 11:19 am
