    • Tough-luck end to great start
Walker did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out six.

Advice: Walker cruised through five innings, allowing just one baserunner while maintaining a three-run lead. In the sixth, after having allowed a one-out base hit and a two-out walk, and with left-handed Brandon Nimmo coming to the plate, Walker was pulled at just 79 pitches in favor of lefty Gregory Soto. Soto proceeded to allow both inherited runners plus an additional run to score, not only saddling Walker with two earned runs but also allowing the Mets to tie the game, thus ending Walker's opportunity to record his fourth win. It was a bit of an unlucky ending for Walker, who pitched very well Sunday after having allowed 12 earned runs over 15.2 innings during his previous three starts. He's next scheduled to take the hill in a tough matchup next weekend when the Phillies travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:36 pm
    • Closing in on return
Turner (hamstring) said Sunday he's "getting close" to returning from the 10-day injured list, and it's possible he's activated within the next week, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Rob Thomson indicated the shortstop is running at about 75-to-80 percent of full speed, which makes a return this week seem less likely. Turner isn't expected to embark on a rehab assignment before being reinstated, however, which shortens his potential return timeline. The 30-year-old will attempt to get back to running full speed this week in Boston, which could be one of the final hurdles before he's cleared for game action. • Taijuan Walker allows just two runs in no-decision
Taijuan Walker gave up two runs in 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday.

Advice: Both runs that Walker allowed came after he left the game, as Gregory Soto was wildly ineffective after replacing the right-hander. The right-hander had one of his best starts of the season while allowing just two hits and a walk, and he struck out six. There has been talk of Walker being removed from the rotation, but he certainly earned another start after this one. All that being said, Walker shouldn’t be a fantasy streamer next weekend against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:39 am
    • Tracking toward mid-July return
Ray (elbow) is on track to return around the All-Star break, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Ray made his second rehab appearance with the Giants' rookie-level team Saturday, striking out five without allowing a baserunner over two innings. The southpaw began his rehab assignment June 4, and he could have it extended beyond the customary 30 days since he is returning from Tommy John surgery. Ray will likely make some of his rehab appearances in the higher levels of the minors later in the assignment. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:10 am

    • Rejoining lineup Sunday
Moreno (illness) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Sunday at San Diego.

Advice: The 24-year-old catcher was a late scratch Saturday due to an illness but is back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Moreno struggled to a .220/.292/.288 slash line during May but has rebounded early in June with a .761 OPS through seven contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 am
    • Gabriel Moreno (illness) back in lineup Sunday
Gabriel Moreno (illness) is back in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Padres.

Advice: Moreno was scratched from the lineup Sunday to an illness, but the 24-year-old is feeling well enough to hit eighth and handle catching duties against the Padres on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:58 am
    • Robbie Ray (elbow) strikes out five in rehab start
Robbie Ray (elbow) struck out five over two scoreless innings in a rehab appearance in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin reported that Ray’s velocity was “good” and that the southpaw remains on track to return at some point after the All-Star break. Ray has been one of the best bat-missers in the sport when healthy, and while his shaky command will be a concern — especially after missing over a season due to Tommy John surgery — there’s reason to be intrigued by what Ray can provide in the second half of 2024. • Not in Sunday's lineup
Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets in London.

Advice: Stott started the previous nine games and is in the midst of a five-game hit streak, and he's gone 5-for-17 with a double, three walks, two RBI and four stolen bases in the latter stretch. Weston Wilson will take over at second base and bat eighth Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:54 am

    • Bryson Stott sitting Sunday in London vs. Mets
Bryson Stott is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Mets.

Advice: Stott will take a seat with Jose Quintana pitching for the Mets in London. Weston Wilson will handle second base and hit eighth while Stott retreats to the bench. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:48 am
