    • Beginning rehab assignment
Thompson (illness) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Since Thompson is working his way back from a viral illness rather than a physical injury, he's not expected to require a lengthy rehab assignment before being activated from the 15-day injured list. Prior to being deactivated, Thompson had posted a 4.97 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB in 12.2 innings over nine appearances out of the Chicago bullpen. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:40 am

    • Still no timetable for Muncy’s (oblique) return
Max Muncy (oblique) told reporters Sunday that he remains without a timetable to return to the Dodgers.

Advice: Muncy felt something while swinging a bat around a week ago and has been shut down from all baseball activities. The 33-year-old has been on the injured list with an oblique strain May 17 with some hope that it’d be a short-term stint, but obviously that wasn’t/isn’t the case. Stay tuned for further updates on Muncy’s status to get a better idea of when the slugger could return. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:29 am

    • Will Smith gets Sunday off again vs. Rockies
Will Smith is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Rockies.

Advice: Smith almost always gets Sunday off, and this won’t be an exception. The 29-year-old slugger will take a break with Austin Barnes behind the plate for the series finale. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:55 am

    • Joining Sunday's lineup
Adames is starting at shortstop and batting cleanup Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: Both Adames and William Contreras were scheduled to receive their first days off of the season Sunday, but they were apparently able to lobby their way into the starting nine. Over the past 11 games, Adames is hitting .372 with six doubles, two homers, 13 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:32 am

    • Adames, Contreras inserted back into lineup
Willy Adames is hitting fourth and playing shortstop Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: Both Adames and William Contreras were originally scheduled to get their first day off of the season. Nope. The new lineup has Adames in his usual spot at shortstop, and Contreras is hitting second and catching. Kinda weird, but it keeps the streak going for both. Andruw Monasterio and Oliver Dunn were scratched from the lineup, but this does not appear to be injury related. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:25 am

    • Throwing at 80 mph
Ohtani has reached 80 mph during his throwing program, per MLB.com.

Advice: Ohtani has been throwing since late March and has progressed to a distance of 60 feet. The two-way star won't see any game action as a pitcher this season, so it's logical that the Dodgers will be very cautious in managing his throwing progression. Though he's working only as a batter this season, Ohtani is once again in the MVP discussion with a .326/.395/.604 slash line, 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 41 runs and 14 stolen bases through 57 games. • Adames, Contreras both get first day of season off
Willy Adames is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: For the first time all season, Adames will get day off. This is also true for William Contreras, as the catcher/backstop is getting a chance to enjoy a game from the bench for the first time. In Adames’ place, the Brewers will give a start at shortstop to Joey Ortiz, while Andruw Monastario is the starting designated hitter with Gary Sanchez behind the plate. • Receiving first day off
Adames is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Adames started the first 58 games of the season at shortstop for the Brewers but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Chicago. The 28-year-old has carried a hot bat over the past 11 contests with two homers, 13 RBI and a 1.100 OPS in 43 at-bats. Joey Ortiz will shift to shortstop while Oliver Dunn receives a start at third base. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:48 am

    • Good to go Sunday
Gurriel (illness) will start in left field and bat third Sunday against the Mets.

Advice: The veteran outfielder was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to flu-like symptoms, but he's back in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale in Queens. Gurriel had a rough time at the plate in May and finished the month with a .213/.245/.287 slash line in 25 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:48 am
