    • Bobby Miller averages 97.4 mph on Friday at AAA
Bobby Miller (shoulder) allowed two runs (one earned) over four innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The positive news here for fantasy managers is that Miller averaged 97.4 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and was able to generate nine swinging strikes, nearly all of them on his secondary offerings. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks, needing 85 pitches (50 strikes) to get through four-plus frames. Barring something unexpected, the hard-throwing 25-year-old righty should return to Los Angeles at some point next week. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:32 am

    • Picks up win over Rockies
Romero (3-1) struck out one and hit one batter in a scoreless inning to earn the win over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: After his Monday meltdown versus the Astros, Romero has bounced back with a pair of scoreless outings. There's been little reason to worry about the southpaw this year, as he's pitched to a 1.97 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 32:4 K:BB over 32 innings. He's added 19 holds and two blown saves while operating in a setup role ahead of closer Ryan Helsley. Romero's impressive numbers have been fueled by his slider, which he's thrown 33.5 percent of the time. Opponents are batting just .048 off the pitch, and it's generated a 44.4 percent whiff rate on this year, per Statcast. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:16 pm

    • Touches 90 mph in sim game
Kershaw (shoulder) hit 90 mph during a two-inning simulated game Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Friday's session was the second simulated game for Kershaw. The velocity he showed is a good sign that the veteran southpaw is progressing well in his recovery from his offseason shoulder surgery. Kershaw will throw another simulated game next week, though it's not yet certain when he will begin a minor-league rehab stint. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:20 pm

    • Clayton Kershaw touches 90 mph in sim game
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game on Friday for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Kershaw touched 90 mph on the radar gun during the throwing session. The Dodgers have yet to schedule Kershaw’s first rehab start, but it might not be far off. First, he’ll throw another sim game next week. The 36-year-old southpaw is coming back from surgery last November to repair his shoulder capsule and ligaments. Rotoworld Friday, 2:29 pm

    • Activated, staying at Triple-A
Thompson (illness) was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday and was optioned to Triple-A Iowa, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Thompson has been recovering from a viral illness since mid-May and was rehabbing with Triple-A Iowa this week. While he's over the illness, he'll stick around in the minors, where he started this season. He's appeared in three games for Iowa during his rehab stint, yielding one run on three hits with six Ks over 4.2 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:34 pm
    • Cubs activate, demote Keegan Thompson
Cubs activated RHP Keegan Thompson from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Keegan had been out with a viral illness since May 15. He has a 4.97 ERA in 12 2/3 innings out of the pen for the Cubs this season. Rotoworld Friday, 1:32 pm
    • Struggles in abbreviated start
Buehler didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk over three innings. He struck out three.

Advice: After needing 78 pitches to get through three frames, Buehler didn't come out for the fourth, marking the 29-year-old's shortest start of 2024. He surrendered a two-run home run to Nick Gonzales in the third inning, the right-hander's seventh long ball allowed in 28.0 innings. Buehler's been shaky since returning from Tommy John surgery, yielding exactly three runs in five of his six starts this season to fuel a 4.82 ERA. He's lined up for a home start against the Rangers on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:47 am
    • Excellent in no-decision
Parker allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out two batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Thursday.

Advice: Parker allowed just one hit through six scoreless frames before Atlanta got to him for a pair of runs on a single and a homer in the seventh. The rookie left-hander still managed to close out that frame to tie his longest outing of the season, but he had to settle for a no-decision. Parker has been remarkably consistent as a major-league pitcher thus far, allowing three or fewer runs in all 10 of his starts. He holds a 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 45:12 K:BB through 57 frames on the season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:25 pm
    • Walker Buehler shaky in short outing vs. Pirates
Walker Buehler was charged with four runs (three earned) over three innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: Buehler was staked to a four-run lead before taking the mound at PNC Park, but it vanished by the third inning of this one as he was tagged for seven hits, including a two-run homer by Nick Gonzales. It wasn’t completely his fault as the Dodgers committed a pair of errors and weren’t able to make a couple catches on balls that ended up going for hits and drove up his pitch count in the process. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty holds a lackluster 4.82 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 27/8 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (six starts). He hasn’t quite returned to fantasy ace status yet, but it’s still early considering how much time he’s missed since undergoing his second Tommy John surgery. He’ll face the Rangers on Wednesday in his next outing. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:51 pm
