  • Patrick Corbin defeats Red Sox for first victory
Patrick Corbin won for the first time in 2024 after pitching five innings of one-run ball in the Nationals’ 5-1 victory over the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: The Red Sox had one more hit, one more extra-base hit and three more walks than the Nationals tonight, but they went 1-for-9 with RISP and the Nats went 4-for-8. Corbin gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. He has a 3.54 ERA over his last four starts after coming in at 8.06 in his first four. Still, that’s no reason for optimism here. • Victor Robles goes 2-for-4, steals base versus Boston
Starting for the first time in three games since he came off the IL, Victor Robles went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a steal against the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Robles was held out of the Nationals’ lineup at the beginning of the season because of the baffling decision to roll with Eddie Rosario in center. Now, back from a hamstring strain that cost him a month, he’s been out of the lineup because of Jacob Young’s fine performance in emerging as the primary center fielder. Still, there should be ample room for Robles at the moment with Lane Thomas and Joey Gallo on the IL, Rosario still struggling and Jesse Winker having cooled off after a fast start. It would make sense to give him one last chance and play him most of the time. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago
  • Johan Rojas has three hits, homer to lead Phillies
Johan Rojas went 3-for-5 with a homer, stolen base and two RBI on Friday night, leading the Phillies to an 8-2 victory over the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: Rojas plated Edmundo Sosa with a run-scoring single off of Trevor Rogers in the second inning that extended the Phillies’ lead to 2-0. He then clobbered a 388-foot (100.6 mph EV) solo shot off of Eli Villalobos in the seventh inning that made it 7-0. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old is now hitting .234/.281/.336 with a pair of homers, 10 RBI and eight stolen bases. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Nick Castellanos goes deep in victory over Marlins
Nick Castellanos clubbed his third home run of the season on Friday night as the Phillies crushed the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: Castellanos opened the scoring in the contest with his 400-foot (104.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Trevor Rogers in the second inning. That would be his only hit in five at-bats on the night. For the season, the 32-year-old slugger is hitting an underwhelming .207/.268/.303 with just three homers and 13 RBI. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Ranger Suárez dominates again in win over Marlins
Ranger Suárez delivered yet another dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Marlins, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the evening while issuing two free passes. While two of the three hits that he allowed were doubles, the Marlins never seriously threatened against him. Suárez got nine swings and misses on 97 pitches on the night, posting an elite CSW of 36 percent. He now sits at 7-0 on the season with an impeccable 1.50 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and a 55/8 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first eight starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes the mound against the Mets on Wednesday night. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Josh Bell plates two as Marlins fall to Phillies
Josh Bell doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Friday night as the Marlins were crushed by the Phillies in Miami.

Advice: Bell did his best to avoid a shutout at least, smacking a two-run double off of Giovanny Soto in the eighth inning that pulled the Marlins to within six runs at 8-2. He finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting a putrid .204/.295/.313 with four homers and 15 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Trevor Rogers demolished in loss to Phillies
Trevor Rogers was demolished in Friday night’s loss to the Phillies, giving up five runs (four earned) on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. Rogers struck out three and walked two during the abbreviated outing. The Phillies scored twice in the second inning — including a solo blast by Nick Castellanos — then really broke it open by scoring three more runs while chasing Rogers in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old southpaw got nine swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll attempt to improve upon his grotesque 6.57 ERA and 1.86 WHIP when he takes on the struggling offense of the Tigers on Wednesday in Detroit. It’s the classic, stoppable force meets moveable object scenario. Something has to give. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Bobby Miller (shoulder) throws sim game Thursday
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw two innings in a simulated game on Thursday without any issues.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander will repeat the process on Sunday. If all goes well then, he could be cleared to face hitters in a live bullpen session. He’s making slow and methodical progress in his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder and could potentially be ready to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation at the end of the month if everything goes according to plan. • Pirates option Alika Williams to Triple-A
Pirates optioned INF Alika Williams to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder didn’t do much in 51 plate appearances with the big league club, slashing .239/.271/.348 with zero homers, two RBI and a 9/2 K/B ratio. He’ll continue to function as extra infield depth for the Pirates at the Triple-a level. Rotoworld Today, 5:08 pm
