  • Brewers send DL Hall (knee) on Triple-A rehab
Brewers send DL Hall (knee) on rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall has been on the injured list since late April with a knee sprain. With his rehab progressing to Triple-A, it shouldn’t be much longer until he rejoins the Brewers’ major league rotation. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Moves to upper half of order
Candelario batted third and went 1-for-4 for with a walk, a triple, an RBI and was caught stealing in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Padres.

Advice: Candelario tripled a run home in the first inning then was caught stealing home on a double-steal attempt to end the inning. He was later removed for a pinch runner in the 10th inning after he had walked. A recent hot stretch prompted a move up the batting order; Candelario has batted third or fourth in four straight contests. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 am
  • Used as pinch runner
Fraley (hand) entered Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Padres as a pinch runner in the 10th inning.

Advice: Fraley ran for Jeimer Candelario, who had walked, and presumably was only going to run the bases. The Reds didn't score in the extra frame, but the activity suggests the outfielder could return to the lineup Friday or at some point during the weekend series against the Dodgers. • Leading off again
Hurtubise batted leadoff and went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to San Diego.

Advice: After the Padres jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Hurtubise made things happen for the Reds in the bottom of the frame. He was hit by a pitch then stole second base before scoring on a Jeimer Candelario triple. This was Hurtubise's third consecutive start as the leadoff batter -- all against right-handers -- and he's been removed for a pinch hitter in all three. He's 3-for-14 with three walks, one stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored over nine games since his callup. Once TJ Friedl (thumb) is back, Hurtubise's run as the leadoff batter -- and maybe his time on the parent club's roster -- will end. Rotowire.com Today, 4:08 am
  • Fielding grounders
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) was on the field Tuesday fielding groundballs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand's right hand remained in a protective cast while he fielded solely with his left glove hand. This was his first form of baseball activity since being diagnosed May 8 with a right ulnar styloid fracture on the inside of his hand near the wrist. His return timeline remains at some point in June, but a clearer picture should emerge after Encarnacion-Strand undergoes a follow-up exam scheduled for June 5, the four-week mark of his projected 4-to-6 week recovery. • Grabs first hits, steal of season
Wisely went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Wisely's playing time has been sparse, but he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and one RBI over his first five major-league games of the season. He got the start at shortstop Thursday and delivered with a multi-hit effort, as well as his first steal of the campaign. The utility man hit .175 with a .498 OPS, two home runs and two steals over 131 plate appearances in the majors last year. Wisely can cover the middle infield and all three outfield spots, but it's unlikely he comes anywhere near steady playing time in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm
  • Launches homer Thursday
Ramos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Ramos has hit safely in his last five games, going 7-for-22 (.318) with both of his homers for the year in that span. The outfielder is batting .296 through 14 contests since taking over for Michael Conforto (hamstring) as the Giants' starting left fielder. Ramos has added nine RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base and three doubles across 58 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:05 pm
  • Homers in third straight game
Chapman went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Chapman's swing is rounding into form -- he's got a homer in three straight games, and he's hitting .405 (17-for-42) with six walks during an 11-game on-base streak. The third baseman's blast Thursday sparked the Giants' eighth-inning rally. He's up to a .249/.313/.440 slash line with eight homers, 27 RBI, five stolen bases and 33 runs scored through 50 contests overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm
  • Picks up second win
Jackson (2-1) allowed a run on two hits and struck out two over one inning, earning the win Thursday over the Pirates.

Advice: Jackson allowed a solo home run to Bryan Reynolds in the seventh inning, but the Giants pulled ahead with a five-run eighth. Jackson has been scored on in four of his last five outings, allowing multiple baserunners each time he's given up at least a run. The homer was the first he's allowed all year. Jackson is at an uninspiring 5.84 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB with two holds and three blown saves over 12.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:58 pm
