    Advice: Wendle was released by the Mets earlier this week after hitting .222 with zero home runs in 36 at-bats.     Atlanta signed Wendle to a one-year contract Friday.

    Advice: Wendle was released by the Mets earlier this week after hitting just .222/.243/.250 in 37 plate appearances but has quickly caught on with their division rivals. The utility infielder made the All-Star team with the Rays in 2021 but has produced just a .604 OPS in three seasons since then. Wendle will back up all over the infield in Atlanta.     Advice: Wisely's playing time has been sparse, but he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and one RBI over his first five major-league games of the season. He got the start at shortstop Thursday and delivered with a multi-hit effort, as well as his first steal of the campaign. The utility man hit .175 with a .498 OPS, two home runs and two steals over 131 plate appearances in the majors last year. The second baseman is slashing .269/.330/.388 with three home runs, three steals, 23 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 39 contests on the year. He sees a majority of the playing time at the keystone with Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) out indefinitely and should continue to thrive atop the order for a team that has little trouble putting the ball in play. Kim has a .216/.335/.369 slash line with six home runs, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored, four doubles and two triples over 52 games, but his recent hitting suggests he may be turning things around.   • Edmundo Sosa has three hits in win over Rangers
    Edmundo Sosa went 3-for-4 in a win Thursday over the Rangers.

    Advice: Sosa hasn’t gotten much attention in 2024, but it’s probably time for that to change. The three-hit afternoon pushes the 28-year-old’s average up to .323, and he’s slugging .548 to show he’s not just dinking-and-dunking the baseball.
