  • Homers, drives in five
Harper went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a home run in Monday's win against Detroit, finishing with five RBI and three runs scored.

Advice: Harper opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run double before icing the game with a three-run shot in the sixth. Harper stayed hot at the plate, extending his hitting streak to nine games. During the hitting streak, the 31-year-old is batting a scorching .462 (18-for-39) with four home runs, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored and one stolen base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:50 pm
  • Tyler Black takes seat against right-hander
Tyler Black is on the bench against a righty Monday for the first time since being recalled last week.

Advice: Black sat against a lefty in his first day back in the majors, but he had started versus four straight righties since. Tonight, though, the Brewers wanted to give Christian Yelich a day off his feet and put him in the DH spot. Black is 3-for-11 with three walks since being recalled. The Brewers aren’t currently interested in putting Black anywhere other than first base or DH, so when Yelich or someone else besides Rhys Hoskins DHs, there’s no room for Black. • Begins running program
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Monday that Gallo (hamstring) has started a light running program, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gallo suffered a significant hamstring strain June 11 and has been on the 10-day injured list ever since. The running program is the first substantial step in his recovery and he'll likely have to ramp up his workload over a series of days prior to being considered for a rehab assignment. • Receiving first day off
Bell is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Bell will hit the bench for the first time all season, ending a streak of 77 consecutive starts. He'll be getting a breather after he concluded the Marlins' weekend series versus the Mariners with a pair of hitless performances that brought his season-long average down to .246. Jake Burger steps in at first base in place of Bell. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:47 pm
  • Idle against lefty
Biggio is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Biggio will once again hit the bench while the Dodgers face off against a lefty starter (Garrett Crochet) for the third time in four games. Platoon mate Enrique Hernandez gets the nod at third base in Biggio's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:20 pm

  • Giants designate 1B Trenton Brooks for assignment
Giants designated 1B/OF Trenton Brooks for assignment.

Advice: The 28-year-old Brooks went 3-for-25 with one RBI in his four weeks with the Giants. He’ll probably clear waivers, but maybe someone will take a flier, since he has been really good in Triple-A the last two years. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:01 pm
  • Exits 40-man roster
The Giants designated Brooks for assignment Monday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Raymond Burgos. Brooks was given some run at first base due to LaMonte Wade (hamstring) being out but went just 3-for-25 at the dish. He could clear waivers and remain in the organization. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:58 pm
  • Absent from lineup
Black is not in the lineup for Monday's tilt versus the Rangers.

Advice: Black was in the lineup for each of the last four games against right-handers following his recall from Triple-A Nashville, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Rangers send righty Michael Lorenzen to the bump. Rhys Hoskins is at first base and Christian Yelich will occupy the designated hitter spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:19 pm

  • Paul Goldschmidt resting versus Braves
Paul Goldschmidt is being rested Monday against the Braves.

Advice: Goldschmidt’s scheduled day off was originally set for Saturday, but it was pushed back because of Nolan Arenado’s ailments. It’s happening today anyway, even though Arenado still isn’t back. Alec Burleson is playing first base. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:56 pm
