    • Records victory Monday
Strickland (2-1) earned the win in relief over San Diego on Monday, allowing one hit and one walk over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Tyler Anderson allowed just one run over 6.2 standout frames before turning the ball over to Strickland with runners on second and third and two outs in the seventh inning. The reliever escaped the jam by getting David Peralta to fly out, then wiggled out of his own two-on, one-out situation in the eighth. Strickland subsequently became the pitcher of record when the Angels broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of that frame. Though he has primarily pitched in lower-leverage situations this year, Strickland has been arguably the team's most effective reliever, posting a 1.75 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB over 25.2 innings while notching two wins and two holds. • Tyler Matzek (elbow) moves to 60-day injured list
Braves transferred LHP Tyler Matzek from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Matzek will now not be able to return to the Atlanta bullpen until July 5. The left-hander is off the 40-man roster, and Atlanta used that space to sign Brian Anderson to a one-year deal. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

    • Sidelined with forearm injury
Triple-A Salt Lake placed Wantz on its 7-day injured list April 19 with a right forearm injury, Taylor Blake Ward of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

Advice: Wantz has worked almost exclusively as a reliever at the big-league level with the Angels over the previous three seasons, but he had been working out of the rotation at Salt Lake after being optioned to Triple-A coming out of spring training. The right-hander had gotten off to a solid start to his first four starts with Salt Lake with a 4.15 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 17.1 innings, but the forearm injury has halted any momentum Wantz might have built toward a possible promotion to the big leagues. It's unclear when Wantz might be ready to head out on a rehab assignment with one of the Angels' lower-level affiliates. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago

    • Serving as opener Tuesday
Richards will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher Tuesday against the Orioles, Mike Wilner of The Toronto Star reports.

Advice: Richards has gone more than one inning in seven of his 25 relief appearances this season, including a 3.1-inning appearance last Wednesday against the White Sox. However, he hasn't thrown more than 38 pitches in any outing and will be pitching on just one day of rest after making an one-inning appearance Sunday versus Pittsburgh. The expectation is that Bowden Francis (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to work in bulk relief behind Richards. Rotowire.com Today, 8:15 am

    • Getting another start Tuesday
Peterson is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals in Washington, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: With a pair of off days Thursday and Friday ahead of their two-game series versus the Phillies in London this weekend, the Mets opted to condense their rotation from six to five men. Peterson ended up making the cut, as the Mets instead optioned rookie Christian Scott to Triple-A Syracuse last weekend. After returning from the 60-day injured list last week, Peterson drew a tough matchup in the Dodgers for his 2024 Mets debut, but he held his own against one of baseball's best offenses, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings. He'll get a more favorable draw Tuesday, facing off against a Nationals offense that ranks 27th in the majors with an 81 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching for the season. • Report: Francis coming off IL to pitch Tuesday
Bowden Francis (forearm) will come off the injured list to pitch Tuesday against the Orioles.

Advice: Francis will be the “bulk” pitcher for Toronto on Tuesday with Trevor Richards getting the start as the opener against Baltimore. Francis has been on the injured list since the end of April due to tendinitis in his right forearm. The right-hander could pick up a win working in his role, but it’d be a mistake to trust him as a fantasy option Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 8:06 am

    • Shifts rehab to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks transferred Frias' (shoulder) rehab assignment to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Advice: Frias has been on Arizona's injured list since April 19 with right shoulder inflammation but finally looks to be inching toward a return to the active roster. He began his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League over the weekend, tossing a scoreless inning in his lone outing. He'll likely make a handful of relief appearances for Reno before rejoining the big-league bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 8:05 am

    • Handed one-year suspension
Saalfrank has been suspended one year for violating Major League Baseball's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

Advice: MLB's investigation revealed that Saalfrank made a total of 29 baseball bets -- including 28 on MLB games -- while he was on a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks. He did not appear in any of the games on which he bet and MLB has determined the outcomes of the contests were not compromised in any way. Saalfrank is currently on the roster of the Diamondbacks' Triple-A Reno affiliate. Rotowire.com Today, 7:48 am
    • Michael Kelly suspended for year for betting
MLB suspended Michael Kelly one year for violating Major League Baseball’s betting policy.

Advice: Kelly wagered $99.71 on games according to Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal. The right-hander had been a big par of the Oakland bullpen, but now won’t be able to pitch in games until the summer of 2025. Rotoworld Today, 7:47 am
