    • Gets rare playing time Sunday
Diaz started at second base in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays and went 1-for-4 with a run.

Advice: Diaz drew his first start since June 1 and his fourth overall since being activated from the injured list May 28. The veteran's single was only his second hit in that span, and Diaz figures to continue seeing sporadic playing time moving forward as long as Zack Gelof and Max Schuemann are healthy in the middle infield. • Solid in big-league debut
Locklear, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a run in an extra-inning win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: The rookie snapped a 1-1 tie with his first career hit, a seventh-inning two-bagger that plated Mitch Haniger. Locklear has been an excellent hitter throughout his meteoric rise through the Mariners' organizational ranks, and he should have a solid chance to acclimate to big-league arms while Ty France (heel) remains sidelined. • Report: Yankees not ready to give up on Rizzo
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees “are not ready to give up on [Anthony Rizzo] just yet.”

Advice: Rizzo was out of the starting lineup on Sunday and reportedly will be again on Monday. The 34-year-old has been struggling mightily this year. As Rosenthal points out, Rizzo’s .284 slugging percentage against starting pitching is the lowest in the majors, and “since 2022 his .235 batting average against fastballs is the second lowest, ahead of only the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho.” Considering that Rizzo is now playing below-average defense at first base, it seems logical for the Yankees to look for an upgrade. Still, manager Aaron Boone has not been willing to admit as much. “There’s no question over the last two, three weeks especially, it’s been a little bit of a struggle,” Boone said. “When you’re going through it and making little adjustments, they don’t always take right away.” Considering Rizzo is hitting .231/.323/.413 since the beginning of 2022 with a 111 wRC+, it’s now been a few years since he’s really given the Yankees’ lineup much. If they want to compete for a World Series this year, Boone may need to be open to a change at first base. Rotoworld Today, 9:13 am
    • Playing time trending back up
Santana went 1-for-5 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 11-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Advice: With Royce Lewis getting Sunday's game off following his recent return from the injured list, the Twins were able to open up a prominent spot in the lineup for Santana, who occupied the leadoff spot after hitting higher than fifth in the order on just one other occasion this season. Santana had a quiet afternoon until he delivered a two-run double as part of the Twins' seven-run outburst in the top of the 10th to salt away the win. The 38-year-old is slashing .294/.385/.529 over his last 10 games, and after he looked to have moved into more of a part-time role toward the end of May following an underwhelming start to the season, he now appears to be pushing the struggling Alex Kirilloff for primary duties at first base. • Timely hit against Twins
Joe went 1-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Joe delivered his lone hit of the game in the fifth inning to give the Pirates a brief lead. He has five RBI and seven runs scored across his last 10 games, though that production has primarily come due to timely hitting as he is just 7-for-38 overall in that span. Joe remains a near everyday player for Pittsburgh, playing primarily in right field against right-handed pitching while shifting to first base against lefties. Rotowire.com Today, 6:42 am

    • Another multi-hit game
Tellez went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Tellez has had a miserable start to his tenure in Pittsburgh, though he's begun to turn things around in his last five starts. He has four multi-hit games in that stretch, hitting .529 with seven RBI and three runs scored. Tellez should remain Pittsburgh's primary first baseman against right-handed pitching. • Launches sixth homer
Renfroe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Renfroe nearly propelled the Royals to another comeback win, but they fell a run short after the outfielder's 10th-inning blast. He's now hit safely in nine straight games, going 12-for-32 (.375) with two homers and seven RBI in that span. Renfroe is up to a .201/.274/.367 with six homers, 26 RBI, 22 runs scored and one stolen base over 55 contests while seeing a starting role in right field. Among the Royals' outfielders, he's been hitting the best lately, but he could still continue to sit versus some right-handers in favor of Adam Frazier. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:23 pm

    • Homers in Sunday's win
Burleson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Burleson is up to nine homers this year, four of which he's hit over nine contests in June. He's batting .237 (9-for-38) this month, but that slight drop in hitting has yet to cost him the everyday role he earned with a strong May. The outfielder is slashing .273/.305/.448 with 24 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and seven doubles over 203 plate appearances on the year, and he's routinely batted second in the order over the last week. • Pops second homer
Arias went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Arias saw a run of playing time in late May and early June, but he's slipped back into a utility role over the last week. The infielder has gone a modest 6-for-28 (.214) over his last 10 contests, though he's recorded three extra-base hits in that span. Arias is slashing .215/.250/.339 with two homers, four stolen bases, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple over 128 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:36 pm
