  • Robert Suarez nails down 14th save against Reds
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless 10th to pick up a save against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: That’s already the 14th save of the season for Suarez; putting him at right around a 40-save pace at this stage of the season. The right-hander hasn’t just helped in that category, as the scoreless 10th puts his ERA at a sparkling 0.40 for the 2024 campaign. There were question marks about Suarez being a stopper for the Padres coming into the season. Over the first 50-plus games, that question has been answered rather emphatically. • Matt Waldron gives up two, gets no-decision
Matt Waldron didn’t factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds after allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts.

Advice: Waldron gave up both of his runs in his first two innings before settling down quite nicely. The 27-year-old gave up six hits and two walks in another solid effort for the knuckleballer after scuffling in the early portion of the season. He’s absolutely worth streaming consideration; particularly in a start Tuesday against the Marlins. Rotoworld Today, 1:29 pm
  • Frankie Montas surrenders four runs vs. Padres
Frankie Montas was charged for four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals. • Jose Trevino leaves game Thursday with illness
Jose Trevino was removed from Thursday’s game against the Mariners due to illness.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterwards that Trevino wasn’t feeling well, which led to him being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Thursday afternoon’s showdown. He’s presumably day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Today, 1:25 pm
  • Adolis Garcia hits solo homer in loss to Phillies
Adolis Garcia hit a solo homer in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep a dozen times thus far in 2024 while driving in 36 runs over Texas’s first 51 games. He also drew a walk, and he’s now slashing .253/.300/.500. Garcia is a flawed player, but the power-production is going to make him relevant for a long time. Rotoworld Today, 1:20 pm
  • Edmundo Sosa has three hits in win over Rangers
Edmundo Sosa went 3-for-4 in a win Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Sosa hasn’t gotten much attention in 2024, but it’s probably time for that to change. The three-hit afternoon pushes the 28-year-old’s average up to .323, and he’s slugging .548 to show he’s not just dinking-and-dunking the baseball. It’s only a sample of 58 at-bats, but he’s likely earned more playing time based on what he’s done so far in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 1:20 pm
  • Nick Castellanos homers as Phillies top Rangers
Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-2 win for the Phillies on Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Castellanos extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-2 with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The veteran outfielder has been able to provide five homers thus far in 2024, and the pair of hits see his average increase to a still-disappointing .206 mark. Castellanos is a good bet to be (much) better over the final two-thirds of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 1:20 pm
  • Rays waiting on Josh Lowe (side) IL decision
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the Rays will wait until Friday before making a decision whether Josh Lowe (side) will require a trip to the injured list.

Advice: Topkin added that an injured list stint seems likely, but Tampa Bay wants to wait and see how he feels on Friday before making a final decision. Rays manager Kevin Cash delivered an ominous “not ideal” statement to reporters following Lowe’s early exit from Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox due to right side tightness. The 26-year-old five-category impact fantasy contributor dealt with a similar issue back in spring training and underwent an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status at some point prior to Friday’s series opener against the Royals. Rotoworld Today, 1:15 pm
  • Not starting Thursday
Turner isn't in Toronto's lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Turner will get a breather Thursday after reaching base three times during Wednesday's win over the White Sox. Daniel Vogelbach will fill in as the Jays' DH and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:05 pm
