  • Blanks Oakland on Saturday
Irvin (2-1) picked up the win Saturday, scattering four hits over seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 victory over the A's. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Advice: For the second straight start, Irvin led the Orioles to a combined shutout. The southpaw retired the first 10 batters he faced, and Oakland failed to get a baserunner into scoring position until he'd left the mound. Irvin tossed 63 of 89 pitches for strikes as he extended his scoreless streak to 14.1 innings, and his impressive stretch may have come in the nick of time to save his rotation spot -- Kyle Bradish (elbow) is ready to come off the IL, and John Means (forearm) may not be far behind. Bradish lines up to take Irvin's spot next Wednesday at home against the Yankees, but Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reported prior to Saturday's game that Baltimore could shift to a six-man rotation in the short term. Irvin sports a 3.49 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB through 28.1 innings. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago
  • Sonny Gray strikes out nine in win over Mets
Sonny Gray allowed four runs -- one earned -- with nine strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Gray had worked through four scoreless innings before Brandon Nimmo drove in two on a base hit in the fifth. Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer to make it four runs in the frame. Though, only one run was charged as an earned run to Gray after an error allowed the leadoff man to reach. The 34-year-old right-hander induced 15 whiffs to strike out nine batters. He’ll take an excellent 1.16 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 32/4 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in St. Louis on Friday. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
  • Adrian Houser surrenders six runs in loss to Cards
Adrian Houser allowed six runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: The Cardinals jumped on Houser early, bringing four runs in on five hits and a walk in the first inning. He’d face all nine in the order before getting out of the frame. Houser bounced back with a clean second inning, but gave up a fifth run on a walk and a double in the third. Houser got the first batter out in the fifth, but was knocked from the game after a pair of hits. One of the inherited runners would come in to score. The 31-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 8.37 ERA, 1.90 WHIP, and a 14/16 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings. Houser is in line for a start against the Cubs in New York on Thursday. • Edward Cabrera struggles late in loss to Nationals
Edward Cabrera was charged for six runs — five earned — in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Cabrera was pitching well over the first four frames, but the fifth was a disaster that saw him give up a grand slam to Jesse Winker. He walked two and struck out four in a start that sees his ERA balloon to 5.28. Cabrera will try and bounce back with a home start against the Rockies on Thursday. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
  • Hammered by O's
Sears (1-2) took the loss Saturday as the A's were dropped 7-0 by the Orioles, surrendering seven runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The lefty looked great the first time through the order, retiring the first nine batters he faced, but Baltimore jumped on Sears for three runs in the fourth inning and back-to-back solo shots by Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, before Gunnar Henderson chased him from the game in the seventh with a two-run blast. Sears did set a new season high in strikeouts and generated 33 called or swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, but he was made to pay when he missed his spots in the strike zone. He'll carry a 4.64 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 33 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Marlins. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
  • Mitchell Parker gives up one over four vs. Marlins
Mitchell Parker allowed one run over four innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Marlins.

Advice: It’s disappointing that Parker wasn’t able to go deeper in this one, as the southpaw was given plenty of run support and would have easily qualified for the win. It was another effective outing for the 24-year-old, however, and he’s now registered an ERA of 1.69 since being promoted to the Washington rotation. He’ll face Texas on Thursday. • Hit hard in Saturday's loss
Kikuchi (2-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs on nine hits over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 4-2 to the Dodgers. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: While the southpaw did manage to keep the ball in the yard, he still gave up some very loud contact, including three extra-base hits and an RBI single by Shohei Ohtani in the second inning that left his bat with a stunning exit velocity of 119.2 mph. Kikuchi saw his quality start streak end at three, but he'll take a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB through 33.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend against the Nationals. • Ben Brown allows three runs in loss to Red Sox
Ben Brown allowed three runs with four strikeouts across 3 2/3 innings in a loss against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Brown got a spot start for the Cubs with Kyle Hendricks on the injured list. He served up a two-run homer to Tyler O’Neil in the first inning. Two hits and a sacrifice fly brought one more run in for the Red Sox in the fourth inning before Brown was pulled with two outs at 61 pitches. He struck out four. The 24-year-old right-hander holds a 4.30 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 22/6 K/BB ratio across 23 innings. Another start in the rotation could come next Thursday against the Mets in New York. • Hunter Greene blanks Rangers over seven in win
Hunter Greene tossed seven shutout innings with six strikeouts in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Greene put together his best start of the season on Saturday, spinning a gem against a tough Rangers lineup. He allowed just two baserunners on the day, walking a batter in the fourth and giving up a double in the fifth. Greene induced just six whiffs, but tossed 63-of-98 pitches for strikes to strike out six. The 24-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 42/12 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings. He’ll take on the Orioles in Cincinnati on Friday. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
