  • Miguel Vargas starting against lefty
Miguel Vargas is starting in left field and batting seventh for the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: With the Dodgers facing left-hander Ty Blach, it will be Vargas in left field with Jason Heyward getting the day off. Vargas has some intriguing plate discipline and power growth this season in the minors, but the Dodgers seem unlikely to play him against right-handed pitching, which will limit his fantasy value in redraft leagues. • Getting afternoon off
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The Rays had initially planned to give Rortvedt a day off Wednesday, but the team later updated its lineup and included the 26-year-old at catcher for a fourth consecutive contest. After delivering two hits in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win, Rortvedt will receive a breather for Thursday's day game. Alex Jackson will step in for Rortvedt behind the plate. • Getting third straight start
DeLuca will start in left field and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Twins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: DeLuca will draw his third consecutive start against a right-handed pitcher (Simeon Woods Richardson), but after going 1-for-8 with a walk in the previous two contests, he'll probably need to pick up the pace at the plate to ensure he continues seeing regular playing time. The 25-year-old made some waves by producing three two-hit games in his first five starts when he returned from the injured list May 3, but he's slashing just .102/.202/.170 from May 8 onward. • Reaches three times in win
Schuemann went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Schuemann busy night on the basepaths surprisingly led to only one run, but it did push his OBP back up to an improving .318. The rookie has hit safely in three of the last four games, and his walk rate has now hit double digits (10.1 percent) after also sitting at that threshold in each of the last six minor-league stops before his promotion. • Plates pair in Wednesday's win
Rooker went 2-for-3 with two RBI singles and a walk in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Rooker's timely hitting led to two of the Athletics' five runs, with the veteran driving home JJ Bleday in the third and seventh innings with his pair of singles. Rooker has now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, but a 42.9 percent strikeout rate has helped lead to a lackluster .211/.262/.368 slash line in that same span. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am
  • Yordan Alvarez back in lineup on Thursday
Yordan Alvarez (family matter) is back in the Astros lineup on Thursday.

Advice: Alvarez was out of the lineup for the last two days while tending to a family matter, but he’ll be back in the lineup and hitting third on Thursday. The 26-year-old has been stellar this season and is seeing the ball very well in June. He should obviously be back in fantasy lineups. Rotoworld Today, 8:44 am
  • Exiting lineup Thursday
Cabbage is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Chas McCormick will get the nod in right field Thursday, and he and Cabbage have now picked up six starts apiece at the position since Kyle Tucker bruised his right shin earlier this month and eventually landed on the injured list. Houston should continue to deploy a timeshare between the lefty-hitting Cabbage and the righty-hitting McCormick at the position until Tucker is back in action, but manager Joe Espada doesn't seem to be running a strict platoon. • Not in Thursday's lineup
Abrams (wrist) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 win and was set to undergo an MRI on his left wrist. The results of his imaging haven't been revealed, but Abrams will miss a second straight start Thursday. The Nationals should have more information on the Abrams' condition before long. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Abrams at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 8:25 am
  • Paul Dejong gets a day off on Thursday
Paul Dejong is not in the lineup for the White Sox on Thursday against the Astros.

Advice: Dejong will take a seat with Nicky Lopez sliding over to shortstop and Danny Mendick playing second base. The veteran is having a great month of June, hitting .246 with six home runs, nine runs, and 11 RBI in 17 games. The power is obviously really nice, but the poor team context around him is keeping his counting stats a little low given his home run total. He has also never hit for a high batting average and is still under .250 even with the power, so he’s really just an add if you’re looking for home runs from your middle infield spot.
