  • Another start on tap
Wesneski is slated to start Friday's series opener against the Brewers in Chicago.

Advice: He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation after Jordan Wicks (forearm) recently joined Kyle Hendricks (back) and Justin Steele (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list. In his first start of the season this past Sunday in Boston, Wesneski gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out three over four innings. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
  • Struggles in Baltimore
Rodon (2-2) took the loss Thursday against the Orioles, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over four innings. He struck out six.

Advice: After shutting out Baltimore through the first two innings, Rodon allowed three solo home runs between the third and fourth innings before the O's put up a four spot in the fifth, forcing the Yankees to turn to the bullpen. It's a deflating effort from Rodon, who'd allowed just one run over 13 innings in his previous two starts. His ERA is up to 3.68 on the season with a 1.28 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB in seven starts. Rodon will look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against the Astros. Rotowire.com Today, 3:02 pm
  • Slated for rehab assignment
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season. • Edward Cabrera whiffs nine, allows four vs. Rockies
Edward Cabrera allowed four runs in four innings while fanning nine against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Cabrera pitched better than this line suggests, but a three-run homer by Jacob Stallings turned a strong outing into a mediocre one. The right-hander did have command issues, however, as he walked four and threw 56-of-91 pitches for strikes. Still, an encouraging outing that showed off the 26-year-old’s swing-and-miss potential. He still shouldn’t be used next week against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Today, 2:23 pm
  • Camilo Doval picks up sixth save against Red Sox
Camilo Doval struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work while picking up a save Thursday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Doval is now up to six saves on the season. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout, and he pounded the zone with 11-of-14 pitches going for strikes. Doval has had some shaky moments in 2024, but the right-hander remains locked into a closing role for a team that should provide plenty of opportunites. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
  • Josh Winckowski surrenders one run over 4 1/3
Josh Winckowski held the Giants to one run while going 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Thursday.

Advice: He walked two and wasn’t able to pick up a strikeout. It was far from a dominant start for Winckowski, but the 25-year-old was mostly effective even without much swing-and-miss. The only run came on a solo homer from Mike Yastrzemski in the third. Winckowski has been able to get the job done in his last two starts, but he has yet to go deep enough to qualify for a victory. That along with the quality of the Atlanta lineup makes him a risky streaming option against the Bravos next week. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
  • Kyle Harrison holds Red Sox to one in no-decision
Kyle Harrison went five innings while allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: It wasn’t always easy for Harrison despite the strong line. The left-hander didn’t find the strike zone on a consistent basis, as he issued five walks with 57-of-95 pitches counting for strikes. Still, the 22-year-old was able to work around those free passes thanks in large part to those aforementioned strikeouts, and he’s allowed just one run over his last two starts. Harrison will take a 3.79 ERA into a matchup with the Rockies. Just keep in mind that takes place in Colorado. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm
  • Edwin Díaz hurls two scoreless innings vs. Cubs
Edwin Díaz hurled two scoreless innings against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: It comes in a non-save situation, but fantasy managers who roster Díaz get to see their ERA drop with the scoreless frames. He also picked up a pair of strikeouts, and that improves his K/BB to 19/4 over 12 2/3 innings. There really hasn’t been much — if any — rust to shake off for Díaz after missing all of 2023. • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Rangers
Mitchell Parker allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Parker got into trouble in the third inning when he gave up a trio of run-scoring hits, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He struck out five and only issued a pair of walks. The 24-year-old rookie right-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four consecutive outings since getting the call to the majors back on April 15, but he’s struggled to work deep into contests. He’ll bring a respectable 2.53 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings (four starts) into a tough home outing on Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 2:09 pm
