  • Dakota Hudson gives up five runs to White Sox
    Dakota Hudson yielded five runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the White Sox.

    Advice: Pitching on the road against the White Sox is pretty much the easiest assignment Hudson is going to get as a member of the Rockies, but he messed it up by walking five and hitting a batter. He’s now 2-11 with a 5.84 ERA, and the Rockies might weigh moving on from him after the break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:35 pm
     
  • Bailey Ober fans nine in no-decision vs. Mariners
    Bailey Ober held the Mariners to one run with nine strikeouts in six innings in a no-decision.

    Advice: Ober wasn’t as good as he was in his complete game against Oakland, but it was another pretty strong outing. The right-hander’s only run allowed shouldn’t have happened, as Christian Vazquez couldn’t hold onto a ball that would have had Mitch Haniger out by about 15 feet if it doesn’t get by him. He’s struck out 19 hitters in his last two outings, and his ERA is now down to 4.30. He’s scheduled to square off against the Tigers next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:32 pm
     
  • Logan Gilbert fires six strong in no-decision
    Logan Gilbert gave up two runs in six innings while not factoring into the decision against the Twins on Friday.

    Advice: Gilbert struck out three while allowing just four hits and no walks. The right-hander saw his streak of 21 scoreless innings come to an end when Carlos Correa socked a two-run homer off the right-hander to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. Outside of that, it was another outstanding effort for the right-hander, and concludes a June that likely will see him win AL Pitcher of the Month.   • Bags seventh save
    Kopech earned the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rockies, pitching a scoreless inning and working around a walk.

    Advice: The 28-year-old entered the ninth with a two-run lead and looked to immediately be in danger as he opened with six-pitch walk to Ryan McMahon. However, Kopech induced two consecutive groudouts, including one of the double-play variety, to escape with just his second save in June. The Chicago right-hander lowered his season ERA to 4.46 over 34.1 innings as he appears to have seized control of the closer's role over John Brebbia for the time being.   • Secures second victory
    Thorpe (2-1) earned the win Friday versus Colorado, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out four.

    Advice: The Chicago right-hander shined in this outing, allowing just three baserunners en route to his second straight quality start. The only blemish on Thorpe's performance was a two-run homer allowed to Brenton Doyle in the sixth inning. Over his first four career starts, the White Sox rookie sports a 4.43 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 13:12 K:BB across 20.1 innings.   • Struggles with command in loss
    Hudson (2-11) took the loss Friday versus the White Sox, allowing five runs on six hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: The Colorado righty failed to find the strike zone as his five free passes matched a season worst previously reached April 13 and June 16. Hudson finishes off a poor June, during which he made five starts, going 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 13:14 K:BB across 24.1 innings. Things don't get much easier for him as he's currently scheduled to face the Brewers -- a team collectively sporting a 113 wRC+ against righties -- at home in his next outing.   • Yusei Kikuchi’s night ruined by Juan Soto
    Yusei Kikuchi lasted five-plus innings on Friday against the Yankees. He allowed four earned runs, struck out seven, and walked one in a loss.

    Advice: Kikuchi was cruising to the highest degree of the word through the first five innings. He had seven punch outs, faced two batters over the minimum, and the Yankees only run came from a run-down. Then, Juan Soto clobbered a three-run home run to spoil his great night.   • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
    Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

    Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:22 pm
     
  • Ronel Blanco can’t overcome red-hot Mets
    Ronel Blano was pulled after 5 2/3 innings after allowing six runs, three earned, on Friday against the Mets. He struck out five and walked three in a loss.

    Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Mets’ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard. He still missed plenty of bats with 12 whiffs on the day and would have earned his fourth straight quality start if Bregman had fielded that ground ball cleanly. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:21 pm
