• Falls to Baltimore
Cortes (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Orioles, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Three of Baltimore's four runs off Cortes came in the fourth inning, as the 29-year-old left-hander took a second straight loss. Cortes had gone seven innings in each of his previous two outings, allowing just three runs while striking out 13 in that span. His ERA now sits at 3.86 with a 1.10 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB across seven starts (42 innings). Cortes is currently scheduled to face the Tigers at home in his next start. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Hunter Brown struggles, allows six runs vs. CLE
Hunter Brown pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six earned runs and five hits in Tuesday’s win over the Guardians.

Advice: It was a rough start to the night for Brown, who retired just one of the first four batters he faced. Things went from bad to worse when Josh Naylor swatted a three-run homer into left to put the Astros into an early deficit before their offense even took the field. Brown needed 26 pitches to get out of the first but would go on to allow three more runs before being pulled in the sixth after giving up a home run to Andrés Giménez and later walking Josh Naylor. It’s been a rough start to the season for Brown, who is taking a 9.78 ERA and 2.22 WHIP into next month. He’ll look to get right in his next outing which comes on Sunday against the Mariners. • Jorge López locks down save for Mets
Jorge López allowed one run on one hit while securing the Mets’ 4-2 win over the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: With Edwin Diaz having thrown on two straight nights, the Mets needed to turn to somebody else to close down the game on Tuesday. López entered with a 4-1 lead in the ninth and allowed a double to Mike Tauchman and two straight groundouts, one of which scored a run, before inducing a pop-up to end the game. Diaz is clearly the closer for the Mets and López is probably more like fourth in line should anything happen to Diaz, but the Mets had already used their high-leverage relievers earlier in the game and had a big enough lead to allow López to get his second save of the season. • Carrasco lit up for eight runs in loss to Astros
Carlos Carrasco allowed eight runs over four innings in the Guardians’ loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: In a night that featured plenty of offense for both sides, Carrasco was tuned up for a season-high eight runs while pitching his second-shortest outing of the season. Despite being gifted a 3-0 lead before even taking to the mound, Carrasco would give that lead back in the second inning on a three-run homer to Alex Bregman and later allowed another three-run bomb to Jon Singleton to go down 8-3. Carrasco has now allowed 13 earned runs over his last nine innings pitched after allowing just seven runs over his first four starts. The veteran righty will look to correct course in his next outing, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Angels. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago
  • Assad struggles to miss bats in no decision
Javier Assad allowed one run on five hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Assad didn’t walk a batter on the night, but he had just one strikeout, a seven percent whiff rate, and a 17 percent CSW. He had just three whiffs on 45 swings in the game and all three of them came on version of a fastball. Assad doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but he can mix and match the shapes and movement on his fastball and has a deep six-pitch arsenal that keeps hitters off balance. That worked tonight and it’s worked for much of the season as evidenced by his 1.97 ERA, but it’s a risky tightrope to walk. He’s still worth starting in most formats while he’s going well, but he can possibly be benched in shallower leagues with weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

  • Scratched after delay
Montgomery will not start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: The beginning of Tuesday's contest was delayed roughly two hours after a bee colony formed on the net behind home plate, and the lengthy delay will cause Montgomery to sit down while Brandon Hughes starts in a bullpen game. Montgomery's next start will likely be pushed back to Wednesday. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago
  • Manaea pitches good enough in no decision
Sean Manaea allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: While Manaea only gave up one hit, he also walked four batters in five innings and threw a first-pitch strike to just 10 of the 21 batters he faced. He was able to consistently find the zone with his four-seam and sinker, but his sweeper and changeup were less successful, and he didn’t get a single whiff on the sweeper. Still, the fastballs and changeup were more than enough on Tuesday, as he put together a 36 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. Inefficiency has been an issue for Manaea throughout the season, which has put a damper on his fantasy appeal since he has a 3.07 ERA and has looked good for long stretches. He can probably be trusted in deeper leagues against the Rays this weekend, and could be a riser in fantasy circles if he can improve his command. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

  • McArthur notches seventh save of the season
James McArthur pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 4-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: The tall right-hander didn’t allow a single baserunner while striking out one and picking up his seventh save of the season. He has been solid since taking the closer’s job from Will Smith, posting a 2.63 ERA on the year. While there have arguably been better pitchers in the Royals’ bullpen, McArthur is the clear favorite for saves and that isn’t likely to change any time soon. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
  • José Berríos gets tough luck loss against Royals
José Berríos allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings in a loss to the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: Berríos was good, but Cole Ragans was just better. Berríos also struck out just three on the evening while walking one and posting just a 13 percent whiff rate. He did register a 27 percent CSW thanks to his ability to pound the zone with his sinker, but his curve and changeup couldn’t consistently find the zone and he got few chases out of the zone on that breaking ball which limited his overall effectiveness. Berríos has outpitched his peripheries so far this year and there is some regression coming on his 1.44 ERA but you can still start him every game while he’s pitching like this, including next week against the Phillies.
