    • Kenta Maeda struggles in loss to Red Sox on Friday
Kenta Maeda struggled in Friday night’s loss to the Red Sox, giving up five runs on eight hits over his 4 2/3 innings.

Advice: On the plus side, Maeda was able to punch out six batters on the night while allowing just two walks. He was able to keep the Red Sox off the board through the first three innings, but they broke through for four runs in the fourth inning — including a three-run blast off the bat of Ceddanne Rafaela. Maeda got 11 swings and misses on 85 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to improve upon a troublesome 6.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio (40 1/3 innings) when he toes the slab against the Rangers in Arlington on Wednesday. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

    • Sitting Friday
Stanton is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Stanton has struggled as of late, going 1-for-20 with eight strikeouts over his last five games, and he's now down to .225/.275/.471 for the season. Trent Grisham will start in center field Friday while Aaron Judge serves as the designated hitter against Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks. Rotowire.com Today, 4:05 pm
    • Idle Friday
Mcneil is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: McNeil will get a day off Friday after appearing in four games across the last three days. Righty-hitting Jose Iglesias will make his Mets' debut, batting eighth and playing second as southpaw Jordan Montgomery takes the mound for Arizona Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 pm

    • Steals ninth bag
Marte went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The veteran outfielder ended a 12-game drought on the basepaths while recording his second straight multi-hit performance. Marte is batting .333 (10-for-30) over the last 12 games, a hot streak that has boosted his slash line on the season to .267/.314/.395 with six homers, nine steals, 19 RBI and 27 runs in 52 contests. • Francisco Alvarez homers Thursday in rehab game
Francisco Alvarez (thumb) crushed a three-run homer on Thursday in a minor league rehab contest for Double-A Binghamton.

Advice: Alvarez kicked off his minor league rehab assignment by catching five innings behind the plate and slugging a monstrous three-run homer in his second plate appearance. The 22-year-old backstop, who is recovering from last month’s thumb surgery, will likely need a couple more tune-up games before returning to New York. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:29 pm

    • Nearing rehab outing
Cole (elbow) could make his first rehab start Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cole threw live batting practice Thursday, and his next step will likely be a lengthy rehab assignment. It's unclear which affiliate he'll begin the assignment with, though it will be a significant step toward his return regardless of exactly where it occurs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:04 pm

    • Josh Hader fans two in non-save situation vs. M’s
Josh Hader struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Hader got the call to protect a four-run advantage in a non-save situation and made things interesting by giving up singles to Julio Rodríguez and Ty France before striking out Dominic Canzone and getting Mitch Haniger to ground out to extinguish the threat. The 30-year-old lefty has allowed just two runs with a 20/4 K/BB ratio across 11 appearances since the start of May. Simply put, he remains one of the few elite closers in the fantasy landscape. • Gerrit Cole (elbow) close to rehab assignment
Gerrit Cole (elbow) threw a 43-pitch simulated game on Thursday.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday that Cole could start a minor league rehab assignment as early as next week. The initial hope was for Cole to return sometime in June, and that could remain a possibility if he is indeed able to begin a rehab assignment in the next week or so. Stay tuned. • Still not swinging
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Muncy is on a "slow program" due to lingering oblique soreness and isn't currently swinging a bat, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Muncy resumed baseball activities last Tuesday, but his progress has since been slowed by continued soreness in his oblique. The third baseman is already eligible to be activated off the IL, but given Roberts' comments, it doesn't seem like Muncy is on the cusp of returning. He'll almost certainly head out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to rejoining Los Angeles' lineup. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:10 pm
