    Advice: Miller has been sidelined since May 13 due to right ulnar nerve inflammation in his right elbow. He threw 2.1 scoreless frames while striking out three batters and walking one during his two-game rehab assignment, though the 33-year-old right-hander has not been nearly as effective this season as he was in 2023, posting a 4.41 ERA through 16.1 innings.     Advice: Englert has given up three earned runs in six innings since coming up from Triple-A in late May, but he will now return to Toledo in order to make room for Shelby Miller (elbow), who was activated from the IL on Tuesday. Englert owns an impressive 2.35 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 23 innings with the Mud Hens, and he could be the first choice to return to Detroit if the Tigers run into further depth problems in their bullpen.     Jakob Junis (shoulder, head) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville.

    Advice: Junis is going to need at least a handful of rehab outings to build up his stamina and pitch count, but he should be an option for the Brewers as extra starting pitching depth in a couple weeks.   • Beginning rehab outings
    Junis (shoulder/head) will begin his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Reports.

    Advice: The righty has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a right shoulder impingement and had his return timeline pushed back further after he was stretchered off the field April 22 when he was struck in the head by a foul ball in batting practice. After resuming his throwing program a few weeks ago, Junis reported to the Brewers' spring complex in Arizona last week and checked out fine after facing hitters.     Advice: Diaz threw 21 pitches during his mound session, and manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that there is a good chance the 30-year-old reliever begins a rehab assignment in the minors Thursday. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the Mets will give their star closer, but the fact Diaz is already able to begin an assignment likely signals that he will only require a minimum-length stint on the IL.     Advice: Díaz threw a bullpen session on Tuesday without any issues and the Mets are hoping to have one of their primary closing options back on June 11, when first eligible to return. The electrifying 30-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late May with a right shoulder impingement.     Athletics activated LHP Sean Newcomb from the 60-day injured list.

    Advice: Newcomb will be available in relief out of Oakland’s bullpen for Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw underwent a pair of knee surgeries during the offseason and is expected to return in a relief role for Oakland. He’s several years removed from being one of the better pitching prospects in baseball with the Braves and is merely extra organizational depth at this stage in his career.
