    • Lars Nootbaar returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Reds
Lars Nootbaar (hamstring) is hitting second and playing right field against the Reds on Tuesday.

Advice: Nootbaar was scratched from the lineup Sunday with tightness in his hamstring, but the outfielder looked fine in pre-game workouts and is ready to roll for the tilt against Cincinnati. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:52 am
    • Returns to lineup Tuesday
Nootbaar (hamstring) will start in right field and bat second in Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Nootbaar missed two starts after tweaking his hamstring in Saturday's game against the Cubs, but he worked out prior to Monday's contest and is ready to roll Tuesday. The 26-year-old has a 1.096 OPS with two homers over his last eight games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:45 am
    • Takes part in light running Monday
Nootbaar (hamstring) hit in the batting cage and did some light running prior to Monday's game against the Reds, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Nootbaar tweaked his hamstring while legging out a triple in Saturday's game against the Cubs and has since sat out the last two games. The outfielder told Denton that he should be ready to return to the lineup whenever the Cardinals give him the green light. The Cardinals are slated to face a left-hander starter Tuesday and have an off day Thursday, factors which could weigh into their decision as to when to reinsert Nootbaar into the lineup. • Lars Nootbaar day-to-day with hamstring issue
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Lars Nootbaar is “day-to-day” with a hamstring strain.

Advice: Marmol said that the team believed that keeping Nootbaar out of the lineup on Sunday and Monday is “the smart thing to do,” but they “don’t see it lingering.” That provides some optimism that Nootbaar could make it back in the middle of this week; however, hamstring injuries are known to linger so fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues could decide to play it safe and sit Nootbaar this week. • Remains out Monday
Nootbaar (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Nootbaar was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup due to a hamstring issue. With tough left-hander Nick Lodolo on the mound for the Reds on Monday, it makes sense to hold Nootbaar out again. Cincinnati does another another southpaw scheduled to start Tuesday in Andrew Abbott, so it's possible Nootbaar could remain out until Wednesday. For what it's worth, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday of Nootbaar's injury that "we don't see it lingering," per John Denton of MLB.com. Dylan Carlson will be in right field Monday. • Lane Thomas activated from the IL
Nationals activated OF Lane Thomas from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Thomas has been on the IL for just over a month with a knee injury. The 28-year-old was tremendous in 2023 but has gotten off to a brutal start in 2024 with a .184/.250/.253 slash line in 22 games. He will remain a fixture in the Nationals’ lineup and should turn things around in the coming weeks. While he may not reach the highs of 2023, he remains a quality MLB outfielder and his 11 steals on the season signal the type of fantasy upside he has. Victor Robles was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 10:33 am

    • Reinstated from IL
Thomas (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Victor Robles was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Thomas has been out since late April with a Grade 2 MCL sprain, but he is now ready to roll following a four-game rehab stint with Double-A Harrisburg. Thomas mostly struggled over the first few weeks before landing on the IL, slashing .184/.250/.253 with two homers and 11 steals, but he should immediately slot back in as the starting right fielder for Washington. • Lars Nootbaar (hamstring) scratched from lineup
Lars Nootbaar was a late scratch from the Cardinals’ starting lineup on Sunday due to a minor hamstring injury.

Advice: Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol told reporters that Nootbaar felt a small twinge in his hamstring during Saturday’s game. He also noted that Nootbaar could easily play through the issue, but they’re taking a cautious approach and giving him the night off just to be on the safe side. He’s considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:23 pm
    • Scratched with hamstring issue
Nootbaar was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cubs due to a minor hamstring issue, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Manager Oliver Marmol said Nootbaar could easily play through the hamstring issue, which popped up Saturday, but they will play it safe. Matt Carpenter was added to the lineup at designated hitter, batting fifth. Rotowire.com Sunday, 3:16 pm
