      Pfaadt (3-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks over 6.1 innings as the Diamondbacks fell 3-1 to the Nationals. He failed to strike out a batter.

      Advice: To say the 25-year-old right-hander wasn't fooling anyone Wednesday would be an understatement. Pfaadt not only came up empty in strikeouts while issuing a season high in walks, he didn't generate a single swinging strike among his 77 pitches. He was still able to produce enough weak contact to deliver his second straight quality start and eighth of the season, however.       Brandon Pfaadt logged a quality start in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Nationals, giving up three runs on five hits across his 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander astonishingly did not record a strikeout in the contest while issuing four free passes. Still, he managed to keep the Nats off the board completely until Jesse Winker’s go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning. He then exited with two men on and one out in the seventh inning, and one of those runners ultimately came around to score as well. Pfaadt didn’t get a single swing and miss on any of his 77 pitches in the contest, registering an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent.       Lopez (5-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Tigers, allowing seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: It's the second straight scoreless outing for Lopez, though he failed to make it through six innings for just the second time in his last six starts. The 30-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to a remarkable 1.57 with a 1.08 WHIP and 76:23 K:BB across 74.1 innings this year.       Reynaldo López scattered seven hits over five scoreless innings in a victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Both Lopez and Tarik Skubal allowed seven hits in this one, but every one López surrendered was a single and they were all spread out; he allowed one each in the first three innings and two apiece in the fourth and fifth.       Nola didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Nola held San Diego scoreless through his first five innings before ultimately allowing three runs in the sixth, including a pair on a Luis Campusano homer. Still, it was a solid bounce-back outing overall for the 31-year-old Nola, who was tagged for eight runs in his last start against the Red Sox. Nola's 8-3 on the year with a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 84:25 K:BB across 15 starts (94 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Tigers on the road early next week in his next outing.       Miller (6-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: It was another solid outing from Miller, who's now allowed just two earned runs over 12.2 innings in his last two starts. While he's been inconsistent at times this year, the 25-year-old Miller has turned in a respectable 3.46 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP and 82:26 K:BB across 15 starts (88.1 innings).     • Aaron Nola pitches fine in no decison
      Aaron Nola allowed three runs on four hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres.

      Advice: Nola struck out six and walked just one on the day while posting just 11 whiffs on 51 swings for a 22 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. The curve was the only pitch that really got swings-and-misses for Nola on Tuesday, but it was enough to stifle the Padres offense.     • Bryce Miller survives in win over Guardians
      Bryce Miller allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Guardians on Tuesday.

      Advice: Miller walked two and struck out two on the day. He had just six whiffs on 43 swings on the day, leading to a 14 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW on the day. The only pitch Miller recorded a whiff on all day was his fastball with his other pitches getting zero whiffs on 16 combined swings. The 25-year-old has a solid 3.46 ERA on the year, but the secondaries have yet to develop in a way that gives us confidence in his swing-and-miss upside this season. He remains a solid fantasy option and should be in for a good start against the Marlins this weekend, but it may take a pitch mix change to unlock the strikeouts that will give him a higher fantasy ceiling.       Advice: Nothing has changed regarding Schmidt’s return timetable as the procedural move merely opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster.
