    DeJong went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Rays.

    Advice: The veteran shortstop snapped a 16-game homer drought with his seventh-inning shot off Zach Eflin, but it was all the offense the White Sox could muster. DeJong had a brutal start to the season but has begun to provide some consistent production over the last could weeks, batting .263 (10-for-38) over his last 11 contests with three doubles, four RBI and six runs, but his 1:13 BB:K over that stretch highlights how quickly even that moderate level of success could evaporate.     Advice: Adames stepped up to the plate with Gary Sanchez on first and William Contreras on second with two outs down 5-3 and smacked a laser over the left field wall for the go-ahead homer.   • Tim Anderson goes 0-for-4 in loss to Dodgers
    Tim Anderson went 0-for-4 against the Dodgers on Tuesday, dropping his average to .203.

    Advice: It was worth seeing if Anderson might bounce back from his awful 2023, but he’s been even worse in 35 games this year. In 118 plate appearances, he has three extra-base hits, six walks and 37 strikeouts. His contact numbers are horrible, and he’s not making hard contact when he does hit the ball. He’s also not very good defensively at this stage of his career. Otto Lopez wouldn’t be more than a placeholder for the Marlins, but he has to be better than Anderson right now.     The Red Sox will designate Short for assignment on Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

    Advice: Short will be kicked off the 40-man roster just a week after Boston acquired him from New York. The 28-year-old played in just two games for the Red Sox, going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts. Romy Gonzalez (wrist) will be reinstated from the IL to take Short's spot on the active roster.   • Willy Adames homers in ninth to lead Brewers
    Willy Adames hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to propel the Brewers to a 6-5 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

  • Volpe homers in win over Astros
    Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

    Advice: Volpe hit a two-run homer off Justin Verlander in the fourth inning that traveled 354 feet and left the bat at 99.6 mph. He also had a 104.6 mph lineout and is starting to see the ball a little bit better after a long cold streak. Coming into the day, Volpe was slashing just .163/.247/.238 over his previous 20 games with just one home run and a 29 percent strikeout rate. It’s pretty clear that the torrid start to the season was just a hot streak, but Volpe still makes quality contact and has been operating as the Yankees’ leadoff hitter, which will continue to boost his fantasy value.   • Rafaela drives in one run on two-hit night
    Ceddanne Rafaela went 2-for-4 with one RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Braves.

    Advice: Rafaela singled in the sixth with the bases loaded to score Vaughn Grissom, tying the game at 2-2 after a Reese McGuire walk forced home their first run of the evening. Rafaela is slashing a meager .211/.255/.379 on the year but is batting .263 over the last two weeks.
