• Gavin Lux goes 0-for-3 in loss to Reds
Gavin Lux went 0-for-3 and grounded into a double play against the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Miguel Vargas has experience at second, third and in left field, but he was on the bench while Lux, Kiké Hernández and Jason Heyward combined to go 0-for-9 today. All three of those players have sub-.600 OPSs for the season. We’re still optimistic that Lux will eventually turn into a solid second baseman for the Dodgers, but he’s been a big disappointment in the early going. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:28 pm

  • Shohei Ohtani (hamstring) in lineup Sunday vs. CIN
Shohei Ohtani (hamstring) is in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Ohtani will get the start as he continues to play through the right hamstring contusion. The 29-year-old didn’t look at 100 percent while picking up a triple during Saturday’s contest, but it’s obviously a positive to see that he’s able to play through the issue. • Remains in lineup Sunday
Ohtani will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Though manager Dave Roberts disclosed after Saturday's 3-1 loss that Ohtani has been managing a bruised hamstring of late, the 29-year-old still served as the Dodgers' DH for all nine innings of the contest, going 1-for-4 with a triple and three strikeouts. According to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Ohtani wasn't running at full speed when he legged out the triple, and while the hamstring issue doesn't look as though it'll cost him any starts, it could result in his stolen-base opportunities being more limited in the short term. Ohtani has gone a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen-base attempts through his first 52 games of the season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:41 am

  • Shohei Ohtani playing through hamstring bruise
Shohei Ohtani is playing through a right hamstring contusion.

Advice: The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya adds that the Dodgers are managing Ohtani’s lingering issue, which he suffered during their last homestand when he was hit by a pickoff throw, by placing a “governor” on him while running the bases. The restriction became apparent when the 29-year-old cruised around the bases at less than full speed on his sixth-inning triple during Saturday’s contest against the Reds. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward, but it’s certainly an issue fantasy managers should continue monitoring. Ohtani has been phenomenal in his Los Angeles debut so far, currently leads the majors with a .338 batting average along with 13 homers and 13 steals through 52 games. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:54 am

  • Connects for first homer of 2024
Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Twins.

Advice: Duran finally got on the board with his first long ball of the season, though that wasn't enough to save him from being lifted for a defensive replacement (Travis Jankowski) later in the game. While Duran now has a .284 batting average, he has just a .683 OPS and his playing time has been trending downward. The 25-year-old had been in the starting lineup for just two of the Rangers' last six games entering Saturday. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:37 pm

  • Playing with bruised hamstring
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Ohtani has been playing with a bruised right hamstring in recent days, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Ohtani was hit in the leg by a pickoff throw during the team's last homestand and has been instructed to not exert full effort on the bases for the time being. The issue hasn't caused him to miss any games, and at this point, Ohtani doesn't look as though he'll be subject to any days off. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:25 pm

  • Rehab start could come next week
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that there's a chance Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment as soon as the upcoming week, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cole threw a live batting practice session Saturday without issue, marking the second time he's faced hitters since he resumed a throwing program. According to Erik Boland of Newsday, Cole utilized all of his pitches in the simulated game and reached 95 miles per hour on his fastball, a velocity limit the Yankees had imposed on him prior to the throwing session as a matter of precaution. Cole could be asked to throw another live BP, but beginning a rehab assignment also appears to be on the table. Cole will need multiple rehab starts before returning from the injured list and joining the Yankees rotation, so he's still a few weeks away from making his 2024 debut with the big club. • Upping workouts
Trout (knee) has been working out on the elliptical and exercise bike and will next progress to the treadmill, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Trout has not done any baseball activities yet, but his rehab from left knee surgery in early May is progressing on schedule. It figures to be a while before a timetable comes into focus, but a return before the All-Star break seems unlikely at this stage. Rotowire.com Saturday, 4:39 pm

  • Ezequiel Duran launches first homer vs. Twins
Ezequiel Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo homer against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Duran hadn’t hit a home run over 34 games to start the season going into Saturday’s contest against the Twins. He finally got on the board with a solo shot off Chris Paddack in the fifth inning. The 25-year-old utility man is getting sporadic playing time around the diamond. He’s hitting 284/.346/.337 with eight runs and six RBI across 104 plate appearances. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:11 pm
