      Miller was charged with a blown save in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Tampa Bay in 12 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks over two innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Jose Siri's game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth was the first given up by Miller this year while also resulting in his first blown save in 12 chances. Despite Thursday's hiccup, it's been an excellent start to the season for the 26-year-old Miller -- his ERA now sits at 2.08 with a 0.88 WHIP and 51 strikeouts, the most among qualified relief pitchers, through 26 innings.     • Hangs on for ninth save
      Duran picked up the save Thursday against the Royals, allowing two unearned runs on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Protecting a three-run lead in the ninth inning, Duran would allow a pair of runs on Bobby Witt's two-out single following a walk and a Carlos Santana error. However, Duran would coax a game-ending groundout from Vinnie Pasquantino, earning his ninth save in as many chances to open the year. While he's been a bit shaky of late, Duran's now gone five appearances (4.1 innings) without allowing an earned run.     • Miller blows first save of the season Thursday
      Mason Miller blew the save against the Rays on Thursday.



      Advice: Miller entered the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead and allowed a solo home run to Jose Siri. It was his first blown save of the season. Miller had basically been untouchable all season as he converted his first 11 saves. His ERA is now 2.08 on the year. Miller remains one of the most dominant relievers in all of baseball and would likely remain in a closing role if traded to a contender later this year.

    • Duran picks up ninth save Thursday
      Jhoan Duran allowed two runs (none earned) and picked up the save against the Royals on Thursday.



      Advice: The save was Duran’s ninth of the year. A missed catch error on first baseman Carlos Santana made the two runs that scored on Bobby Witt Jr.’s single unearned. With nine saves already, Duran remains perfect in save opportunities this year. He has rewarded patient fantasy managers that drafted the closer who was injured to begin the season.

      Miller gave up a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 11th save of the season in a 3-0 win over the Rays.

      Advice: The flamethrowing righty continues to dominate. Miller has yet to blow a save in 2024, and his 52.8 percent strikeout rate is the highest in the majors among pitchers who have worked at least 20 innings. Trade rumors are swirling around him, not surprising given the state of the Oakland franchise, but Miller would likely be the best closing option for any team that acquired him.       Brown didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing no hits and two walks across seven scoreless innings. He struck out 10

      Advice: Brown was exceptional Tuesday, notching a career high in strikeouts and carrying a perfect game into the fifth inning when he walked Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick. Although Brown has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen this season, he's yielded one hit and four walks with 16 Ks across 11.0 innings during this stint as a starter -- an impressive stretch that could result in Brown sticking in the rotation long term.       Yates allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: This was Yates' first save since May 8, as opportunities have been few and far between for saves recently. He pitched four times between saves, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over three innings.       Duran picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, allowing two hits and no walks with a strikeout over one scoreless inning.

      Advice: Duran surrendered a leadoff double to Salvador Perez and then a single to Adam Frazier, putting runners on the corners with no outs in the ninth. However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin to keep the Royals off the scoreboard.     • Ben Brown no-hits the Brewers for seven innings
      Ben Brown pitched seven innings of no-hit ball in the Cubs’ win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

      Advice: Brown was excellent in this one. The righty needed just 41 pitches to get through the first four innings and struck out six of the first 12 batters he faced to start the game. His two walks allowed were his lone blemishes on the evening, but Brown has now allowed just two hits in his last 13 innings pitched while boasting a 19/5 K/BB ratio. Brown lowered his ERA to 2.72 on the season but was robbed of his second win after Hector Neris blew a save opportunity in the ninth.
