• Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Garrett for assignment Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Garrett will be pushed off the 40-man roster as Davis Daniel comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Garrett's place in the Angels' bullpen. Since joining the active roster in late April, the 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs while striking out 11 batters through 5.1 innings across six appearances. He's performed well in the minors this year and found a good amount of success last season with the Royals, so it's possible he draws interest from other teams on the waiver wire. • Brenton Doyle helps to power Rockies past Padres
Brenton Doyle clobbered a two-run homer on Wednesday, helping to power the Rockies to victory over the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old outfielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 431-foot (108.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Michael King in the top half of the second inning. He also worked a walk in the third inning and raced around to score on a two-run single by Jacob Stallings. Doyle finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing .281/.337/.464 with five long balls, 13 RBI and eight swipes on the season. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Jacob Stallings plates two as Rockies crush Padres
Jacob Stallings went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Wednesday in a lopsided victory over the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: Stallings smacked a two-run single off of Michael King in the third inning that extended the Rockies’ lead to 5-0. That would be more than enough run support for their pitching staff in this one. With his two-hit attack, Stallings is now hitting a healthy .320/.397/.480 with two homers and 11 RBI in 58 plate appearances on the season. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Austin Gomber fires six scoreless in win over Pads
Austin Gomber delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Padres, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Gomber racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. Both of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles and the Padres never really threatened against him. The 30-year-old hurler got seven swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day — three of those on his heater — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.02 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 35/17 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics in Oakland. • Jurickson Profar swipes base in loss on Wednesday
Jurickson Profar singled and stole a base on Wednesday afternoon as the Padres were shut out by the Rockies.

Advice: Profar smacked a leadoff single off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning and swiped second base, but the Padres couldn’t cash him in from there. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a strikeout. On the season, he’s still slashing a robust .322/.412/.513 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts). He’ll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Tuesday. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Homers again Wednesday
Frelick went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: After going 39 games without a long ball to start the season, Frelick has now homered in back-to-back games. The 24-year-old outfielder also logged his first multi-hit game since May 4, boosting his slash line to .257/.331/.354with 20 runs scored, 10 RBI and five steals across 160 plate appearances this year. • Day off Wednesday
Gorman isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Gorman will get a day to clear his head after striking out four times during Tuesday's win over the Halos. Brendan Donovan will fill in at the keystone Wednesday while Alec Burleson, Mike Siani and Lars Nootbaar start across the outfield. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago
