    Advice: Arraez was ever himself, lacing four singles for his fourth four-hit night with San Diego since joining them on May 4. Overall, it is the 27-year-old's fifth four-hit game of the season as he had one in Miami too. He also managed to collect his ninth and tenth RBI as a Padre with a two-run RBI knock in the eighth inning.     Advice: The homer was Fry's fourth in his last eight games. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a memorable May, going 23-for-60 (.383) with seven homers and 18 RBI over 21 contests for the month. He's slashing .352/.485/.629 with eight homers, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and four stolen bases over 40 games this season. Fry offers a right-handed option at multiple positions, though he's unlikely to be needed in left field as much with Steven Kwan back from a hamstring injury.     Luis Arraez finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored as the Padres topped the Royals 11-8 on Friday.

    Advice: The Padres had just two extra-base hits, both of which were doubles, and two walks tonight, but they collected 16 singles and went an incredible 11-for-18 with RISP.   • Mark Canha undergoes additional testing on hip
    Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

    Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer.   • Seth Brown strikes out four times in loss
    Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

    Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season.     Advice: Vientos received a vote of confidence before this game with Brett Baty being sent down to the minor leagues.     Dominic Smith went 2-for-3 and drove in a run on Friday as the Red Sox defeated the Tigers at Fenway Park.

    Advice: Smith got the Red Sox on the board with a run-scoring double off of Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning, then scored on Ceddanne Rafaela’s three-run blast. The 28-year-old also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances.
