      Advice: Rodon ran through the Angels' lineup for most of the night, surrendering one run over the first six frames while producing five 1-2-3 innings. However, the veteran lefty would run into trouble in the seventh after allowing the first three batters to reach, paving the way for Ian Hamilton to take over in relief.       Carlos Rodón gave up three runs over six innings to pick up a win Thursday over the Angels.

      Advice: Rodón allowed just one run over the first six innings, but a pair of runs were charged to him in the seventh to turn an excellent start into a solid if unspectacular effort. The southpaw struck out five and walked one, and he’s still the owner of a 3.09 effort for his troubles in 2024. Rodón will get another chance to pitch Wednesday against the Twins.       Crawford (2-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Crawford was excellent outside of the second inning -- he gave up five runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter in that frame, with the big blow being a grand slam by Gunnar Henderson. The right-hander did hold the Orioles scoreless on one hit the rest of the way, but the damage was too much to overcome against Baltimore starter Corbin Burnes.       Kutter Crawford struggled again in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles, giving up five runs on four hits over six innings of work.

      Advice: The right-hander punched out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. All of the scoring against him came in the second inning, as Ramon Urias smacked an RBI single and then Gunnar Henderson changed the game with a 422-foot grand slam. Crawford rebounded nicely to finish the day with four scoreless frames, but the damage had already been done. The 28-year-old hurler got 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. The 27-year-old left-hander lowered his ERA to 2.83 with a 1.39 WHIP and 56:20 K:BB across 60.1 innings.       Advice: Sánchez had little trouble carving up a San Francisco lineup that has been one of the better in baseball this season against left-handed pitching, scattering four hits and one walk, needing just 96 pitches (68 strikes) to complete six frames. The 27-year-old lefty notched at least seven punchouts for the fifth time in 11 starts this season, inducing 11 swinging strikes and finishing with a solid 34 percent CSW. The Giants scattered just two hits against him, and his most dominant inning came in the third when he struck out the side. Tuesday was Wheeler's third start this season tossing a shutout while allowing two or fewer hits and striking out at least eight. He now has nine quality starts in 12 tries and will carry a 2.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 85:23 K:BB (73.2 innings) into a projected outing against the Brewers to begin next week.       Zack Wheeler blanked the Giants for six innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Tuesday.

      Advice: Wheeler wasn’t at his most efficient tonight, but that didn’t really matter, since the Phillies went 10 innings without scoring. It’s Wheeler’s ninth quality start in 12 tries, and he lowered his ERA to 2.32. Still, the Phillies bizarrely are only 6-6 when he pitches, compared to 32-12 the rest of the time.       King allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

      Advice: King pitched very well in the outing, but San Diego wasn't able to put its second run on the board until the seventh frame, preventing him from picking up a second consecutive victory. The only run the right-hander allowed came on a third-inning homer by Jazz Chisholm. King has given up one or zero runs in three of his past five starts and has racked up a 34:8 K:BB across 30 innings over that span. He's tentatively slated to make his next start in Kansas City.
