  • Tim Anderson goes 0-for-4 in loss to Dodgers
    Tim Anderson went 0-for-4 against the Dodgers on Tuesday, dropping his average to .203.

    Advice: It was worth seeing if Anderson might bounce back from his awful 2023, but he’s been even worse in 35 games this year. In 118 plate appearances, he has three extra-base hits, six walks and 37 strikeouts. His contact numbers are horrible, and he’s not making hard contact when he does hit the ball. He’s also not very good defensively at this stage of his career. Otto Lopez wouldn’t be more than a placeholder for the Marlins, but he has to be better than Anderson right now.     Azocar went 2-for-4 with no counting stats during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Cubs.

    Advice: Azocar made his 10th start of the season Tuesday, filling in for Jackson Merrill in center field, and received four at-bats for the first time since April 25. He delivered a pair of hits off Shota Imanaga for his second multi-hit game of the campaign.     The Red Sox will designate Short for assignment on Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

    Advice: Short will be kicked off the 40-man roster just a week after Boston acquired him from New York. The 28-year-old played in just two games for the Red Sox, going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts. Romy Gonzalez (wrist) will be reinstated from the IL to take Short's spot on the active roster.     Pages will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: With Willson Contreras (forearm) set to miss the next couple of months, Pages will come up from the minors to serve as the backup catcher to Ivan Herrera. Pages has played in just six games at Triple-A this season, going 4-for-18 with a homer and two RBI, and he'll likely only draw an occasional start while with the Cardinals.     LaMonte Wade Jr. reached base four times Tuesday, finishing 1-for-2 with two RBI and three walks versus the Rockies.

    Advice: The underrated Wade is batting .351 with a ridiculous .485 OBP, yet as a platoon player with one homer, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored and one steal, he still hasn’t been all that valuable for fantasy purposes, and it’s not like he’ll keep hitting .351 forever.     Alec Burleson went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Mets.

  • Expected to return Wednesday
    The Red Sox are expected to reinstate Gonzalez (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    Advice: Gonzalez has been on the injured list since April 13 due to a left wrist sprain, and he's gone 4-for-11 with three RBI since beginning a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Friday.     Advice: Rogers was part of an offensive onslaught for Detroit, and he extended his hitting streak to six games in the process. The catcher is still batting just .194 for the season, though he was batting .125 before his current hitting streak. More concerning is the fact that Rogers only has two home runs through 23 games this year after clubbing 21 long balls in 107 contests last season.     Matt Vierling went 2-for-5 with two RBI in the victory over the Guardians on Tuesday.

    Advice: Vierling continues to hit as his .282 average and .155 ISO this year would be career-highs. The Tigers sent Parker Meadows to the minors earlier this week, leaving Vierling and Wenceel Perez as the only viable options in centerfield. Vierling has multiple paths to playing time as even with Perez in the lineup he got the start at third base. He should see everyday at-bats until he cools off, making him an option in deeper formats.
