• Reds send Alex Young (back) on rehab assignment
Reds sent LHP Alex Young on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: This is good to hear after the team decided to transfer Young to the 60-day IL last week with his back injury. It’ll likely still be a month or so before the 30-year-old southpaw is back with Cincinnati, but it appears he’s progressing and the team is comfortable having him get some live reps at the minor league level. • Giants recall Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Randy Rodríguez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 24-year-old will come up to the majors and hopefully be an arm the Giants can rely on in the bullpen. The 24-year-old has impressed early on in Triple-A as he’s posted a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP with a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 10 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Today, 8:28 am
  • Sent back to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Minnesota will wait until shortly before Friday's series opener versus the Red Sox to announce a corresponding roster move, but Boushley will head back to Triple-A just one day after being called up. He didn't appear in long relief Wednesday in the Twins' 10-5 win over the White Sox. Rotowire.com Today, 8:19 am
  • Joins big-league bullpen
The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Rodriguez, 24, earns the promotion after allowing just two runs with a 10:4 K:BB over 10.2 innings with Sacramento this season. He will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game. Rotowire.com Today, 8:05 am
  • Orioles designate Yohan Ramírez for assignment
Orioles designated RHP Yohan Ramírez for assignment.

Advice: Ramírez hits waivers as the Orioles needed to make room on the roster for Kyle Bradish. The 28-year-old reliever was acquired by the O’s via trade with the Mets in early April and made five appearances for Baltimore where he posted a 6.00 ERA, 0.83 WHIP with a 6/2 K/BB ratio across six innings of work. • Booted from 40-man roster
The Orioles designated Ramirez for assignment Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Ramirez is the roster casualty as the Orioles bring back Kyle Bradish (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's contest versus the Yankees. The 28-year-old reliever holds an 8.74 ERA over eight relief appearances this season between the Mets and Orioles. Rotowire.com Today, 7:06 am

  • Secures eighth save
Iglesias gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: It wasn't the sharpest appearance for Iglesias, who put two batters on base before getting an out, but he settled down and took care of the heart of Seattle's order without too much more trouble. The right-hander has converted eight of his nine save chances to begin the year while posting a typically stingy 2.19 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 12.1 innings, but there are signs Iglesias isn't quite in peak form -- his 94.5 mph average fastball is his lowest velocity since 2016, and his 18.0 percent strikeout rate is a massive drop from the 29.4 percent mark he delivered last season. His top velocity Wednesday was 95.3 mph, on a two-seamer to Luke Raley. Rotowire.com Today, 6:16 am
  • Nabs first win since 2022
Stripling (1-5) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering three hits over six scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory over the Pirates. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Advice: It's been a long drought for Stripling, who prior to Wednesday had collected his last big-league win on the final day of the 2022 season while with the Blue Jays. The quality start was the second of the 2024 campaign for the right-hander, and he's allowed three runs or less in four straight outings. Despite his poor record, Stripling will take a respectable 4.24 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB through 40.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Rangers. • Rocked in loss
Cruz (1-2) took the loss against the Padres on Wednesday. He allowed four runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning.

Advice: Cruz entered to start the seventh inning of a 2-2 game but surrendered two singles and a walk before Jake Cronenworth belted a grand slam. The right-hander faced one more batter, striking out Manny Machado, before departing. Other than Wednesday's effort and another in which he walked three batters, Cruz has pitched well over 13 outings. He entered Wednesday with a 1.59 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 11.1 innings.
