• Jorge Mateo starts third straight game at 2B
Jorge Mateo is starting at second base and hitting ninth for the Orioles on Thursday against the Rangers.

Advice: Mateo has now started three straight games and four of the last five. However, he’s hitting just .240/.282/.453 with five home runs, 12 steals, and a 23 percent strikeout rate. However, he’s hitting just .225 in June and Coby Mayo is on fire in Triple-A, so Mateo might need to go on a hot streak to keep getting starting opportunities. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Anthony Santander getting a day off on Thursday
Anthony Santander will get a day off on Thursday with Colton Cowser starting in left field and batting eighth against the Rangers.

Advice: Santander is on fire in June with 12 home runs in 25 games. He’ll rest, and we’ll get to see Colton Cowser and Heston Kjerstad in the lineup at the same time. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

  • Idle Thursday
Santander isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Santander will get a breather Thursday after going 1-for-11 with a homer and two RBI during Baltimore's previous series against the Guardians. Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Heston Kjerstad will make up the Orioles' outfield while Santander sits. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

  • Alex Cobb will throw a bullpen on Friday
According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Shayna Rubin, Alex Cobb (shoulder) will throw a bullpen on Friday.

Advice: Cobb has been out all season with a shoulder injury. He had been nearing a return before pausing his throwing program in the middle of May. He’s now ramping back up again and, if all goes well on Friday, he will have a rehab assignment with Triple-A San Jose after.

  • Sitting third straight
Urias isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

  • Kyle Harrison will throw a bullpen on Friday
According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Shayna Rubin, Kyle Harrison (ankle) will throw a bullpen on Friday.

Advice: Harrison was placed on the IL on July 16th, so the Giants could choose to activate him without needing a rehab assignment if the bullpen session goes well. We should find out more information later on Friday. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Ruled out through All-Star break
Wicks (oblique) is not expected to return until after the All-Star break, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain just under two weeks ago and has not yet been cleared to begin a throwing program. He'll need to be built back up and eventually require a rehab assignment before returning, so the left-hander still looks to be several weeks away. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Lamonte Wade Jr. coming off IL on Thursday
According to MLB.com’s Maria I. Guardado, the Giants will activate 1B/OF Lamonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) from the 10-day IL on Friday.

Advice: The veteran was placed on the IL at the end of May and will have missed about four weeks. Wade has a tremendous on-base percentage and will return to an everyday role against right-handed pitching. That will send David Villar back to the bench. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Rehab assignment coming
Cobb (hip/shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose afterward if everything goes smoothly, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Cobb has been trending in the right direction since being shut down in May due to soreness in his right (throwing) shoulder. However, he still needs to build back up to a starter's workload after spending all season on the injured list, so he likely won't return to the Giants' rotation until after the All-Star break.
