    Advice: Mateo has now started three straight games and four of the last five. However, he’s hitting just .240/.282/.453 with five home runs, 12 steals, and a 23 percent strikeout rate.     Advice: Cobb has been out all season with a shoulder injury. He had been nearing a return before pausing his throwing program in the middle of May. He’s now ramping back up again and, if all goes well on Friday, he will have a rehab assignment with Triple-A San Jose after.

    Advice: Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain just under two weeks ago and has not yet been cleared to begin a throwing program.     According to MLB.com’s Maria I. Guardado, the Giants will activate 1B/OF Lamonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) from the 10-day IL on Friday.

    Cobb (hip/shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose afterward if everything goes smoothly, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

    Advice: Cobb has been trending in the right direction since being shut down in May due to soreness in his right (throwing) shoulder. However, he still needs to build back up to a starter's workload after spending all season on the injured list, so he likely won't return to the Giants' rotation until after the All-Star break.
