• Roughed up in loss
Lively (6-3) took the loss Sunday against Toronto, yielding four earned runs on six hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Lively pitched for the first time in eight days after leaving his most recent start with tightness after 65 pitches. He surrendered a two-run home run to Ernie Clement in the second inning, his first home run allowed since May 26. The four earned runs are a season-worst for the 32-year-old, who had notched wins in each of his previous five starts. Despite Sunday's rough outing, Lively has pitched well for Cleveland this season, logging a 3.02 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP and a 52:18 K:BB across 59.2 innings pitched. He is currently scheduled for a rematch against Toronto next weekend. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

  • Cubs designate José Cuas for assignment on Sunday
Cubs designated RHP José Cuas for assignment.

Advice: The Cubs needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Ethan Roberts on Sunday and unfortunately, Cuas drew the short straw this time around. The 29-year-old hurler has made nine appearances at the big-league level this season, posting a 7.43 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 14/6 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings. He could pique another team’s interest on waivers. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Designated for assignment
Cuas was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cuas will now be placed on waivers and if he goes unclaimed, he'll likely remain with Triple-A Iowa. The right-hander has struggled to a 6.35 ERA over 11.1 innings in 10 appearances in the minors and he'll have to right the ship before earning another shot on the 40-man roster. • Evan Phillips improves to 10-for-10 in saves
Evan Phillips turned in a hitless ninth with a three-run lead for a save Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Phillips had one rough outing in his second appearance back from the injured list, but he’s been lights out otherwise. This one made him 10-for-10 in save chances and put his ERA back under 2.00 at 1.93. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
  • Picks up second save
Pearson notched his second save of the season Sunday against Cleveland, retiring the only batter he faced to preserve a 7-6 lead.

Advice: Pearson came on in the ninth inning with two outs and runners on the corners, inducing an Andres Gimenez line-out to end the game. Pearson came on to relieve Yimi Garcia, who was forced to leave the game early due to elbow soreness. While both Yimi Garcia and incumbent closer Jordan Romano (elbow) are sidelined, save chances will be available for Pearson and fellow relievers Chad Green and Tim Mayza. The 27-year-old Pearson has compiled a 4.23 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across 27.2 innings, adding four holds and two saves. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago

  • Josh Fleming goes four scoreless in return
Josh Fleming, who was called up by the Pirates on Friday, pitched four scoreless innings in a start Sunday versus the Rockies.

Advice: The Pirates could have used an opener today to give Fleming a shot at a win, but they decided not to. The victory instead went to Carmen Mlodzinski, who entered with a 1-0 lead after four and worked two hitless frames. Fleming came into the day with a 5.68 ERA in one start and 16 relief appearances for the Pirates. He’s not assured additional starts. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

  • Dakota Hudson gets pulled in sixth versus Pirates
Dakota Hudson yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Pirates.

Advice: It was one-run through five, but the Pirates ended up totaling five runs against Hudson and Viktor Vodnik in the sixth, denying Hudson what would have been a fourth quality start in his last five tries. He fell to 2-9 with a 4.89 ERA. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

  • Notches 20th save
Finnegan picked up his 20th save of the season Sunday against Miami, allowing one hit and zero walks while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Finnegan preserved a 3-1 Nationals lead to notch his 20th save of the season, third in the league behind only Ryan Helsley and Emmanuel Clase. The 32-year-old has been outstanding, compiling a 1.78 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP across 30.1 innings, converting 20-of-22 save chances. Rotowire.com Today, 2:52 pm

  • Expected to be activated Tuesday
The Red Sox are expected to activate Martin (anxiety) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Martin was placed on the 15-day injured list June 5 after informing the Red Sox that he had been dealing with anxiety, but the right-hander looks to be tracking toward a quick return to the active roster. He began a rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Worcester, tossing a scoreless frame. That outing looks like Martin will be all he needs to get the green light to rejoin the Red Sox, as he's set to make the trip with the team to Toronto ahead of Monday's series opener versus the Blue Jays. He'll rest Monday and should be activated prior to Tuesday's game. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm
