• Swipes bag Wednesday
Merrifield went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Merrifield has two steals over his last six contests, but he's gone just 4-for-23 at the plate over his last 11 games. The infielder has recorded 20-plus steals five times in his first eight major-league campaigns, but his smaller role and lackluster ability to get on base in 2024 has put a damper on his speed contributions. He's slashing .190/.277/.282 with eight steals, three home runs, 10 RBI and 19 runs scored over 160 plate appearances this year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:37 pm

  • Brooks Lee has two hits, RBI in MLB debut
Brooks Lee had a memorable MLB debut in Wednesday’s loss to the Tigers, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Advice: After taking a called third strike from Keider Montero in his first at-bat, Lee shot a sharp single into center field in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. He added his first RBI in the seventh inning, plating Byron Buxton with a single to center. He’s going to play on a nightly basis with Royce Lewis (groin) shelved and deserves consideration in all mixed leagues. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:37 pm

  • Yordan Alvarez with three extra-base hits in win
Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three RBI, three runs scored, and a walk in the Astros’ 9-2 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: Alvarez came into this game ready for Yusei Kikuchi’s fastball and twice put first pitch fastballs in play, once for a homer, and also worked a long at-bat that wound up in a double also off that same fastball. He also sliced another double late off Bowden Francis to break this game open for Houston. Watching him hit is a marvel. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:14 pm

  • Receiving Wednesday off
O'Hoppe is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hoppe is in the midst of a modest six-game hit streak and has gone 8-for-19 with two homers and three walks during that span, but he'll sit Wednesday after making five straight starts. Matt Thaiss will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Davis Daniel. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:41 pm

  • Officially promoted
The Twins selected Lee's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday.

Advice: Lee will get his first taste of major-league action, filling Royce Lewis' (groin) spot on the active roster. The 23-year-old has been lighting it up at St. Paul, owning a 1.029 OPS and a .306 ISO across 94 plate appearances. He should mix in with Jose Miranda at third base while Lewis is on the IL. • Twins promote top prospect Brooks Lee on Wednesday
Twins selected the contract of INF Brooks Lee from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: With Royce Lewis (groin) heading back to the injured list, it’ll give Lee an opportunity to show what he can do at the big -league level for the first time. The 23-year-old infielder has hit .350/.412/.585 with seven homers, 26 RBI, two stolen bases and an 18/13 K/BB ratio over 136 plate appearances across three minor league levels this season. Lee will start at third base and bat eighth in his big-league debut against the Tigers on Wednesday night. He’s worth an immediate look in most mixed leagues. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:41 pm

  • Absent from starting nine
Singleton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Toronto, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Singleton had started in four straight games at first base, but he'll yield to Grae Kessinger on Wednesday. Since Jose Abreu was released June 14, Singleton is batting .324 with a homer, four runs scored and four RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:06 pm

  • Expected to be called up
The Twins are expected to call up Lee prior to Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Declan Goff and Darren Wolfson of SKOR North report.

Advice: The news would seem to point to another stint on the injured list for Royce Lewis (groin), although there's nothing official on that yet. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 Draft, Lee missed the first two months of the season with a back injury but has slashed an impressive .329/.394/.635 with seven home runs and a 13:9 K:BB over 20 games with Triple-A St. Paul. Lee has mostly played shortstop this season with St. Paul, but he also has experience at second and third base and would figure to take over as the Twins' primary guy at the hot corner if Lewis does indeed have to miss some time. • Absent from lineup
Rice is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Reds.

Advice: With southpaw Andrew Abbott on the hill for the Reds, the Yankees are going with right-handed-hitting J.D. Davis at first base. The left-handed-hitting Rice has now started one of four games versus lefties since Davis was acquired. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:04 pm
