      Advice: The right-hander got taken deep by Anthony Santander in the second inning and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, just the second time this season Civale has served up multiple homers. The eight strikeouts did tie his season high, helping to salvage some fantasy value, but he's gone 10 straight starts without recording a win, going 0-4 over that stretch with a 6.66 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 50 innings.       Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

      Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances).       Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed his 11th homer of the season on Friday in the Padres’ blowout win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Tatis delivered a tone-setting 415-foot solo shot off Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt in the opening frame, which led to a 10-run, 14-hit explosion for San Diego’s struggling lineup.       Brandon Pfaadt was lit up for five runs over 5 1/3 innings on Friday in a loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Pfaadt, who allowed nine hits (including three home runs) and teammate Humberto Castellanos were each tagged for five runs as they soaked up nearly a complete game to spare Arizona’s overworked bullpen, which frankly needed a break after some heavy usage earlier this week. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass.       Advice: Even in pitcher-friendly Petco Park, Pfaadt was tagged for a season-high three home runs. He gave up back-to-back solo shots to Fernando Tatis and Jurickson Profar in the first inning and also yielded a two-run blast to Ha-Seong Kim in the sixth. This was the third start in a row where Pfaadt has given up four or more runs. He's now at a 4.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:15 K:BB through 78.1 innings across 13 starts. The shortstop has added a .223/.332/.393 slash line with 29 RBI, 34 runs scored and 13 stolen bases through 66 games.       Framber Valdez went the distance against the Angels tonight, striking out eight in the Astros’ 7-1 victory.

      José Abreu hit his second homer Friday off the Angels’ Roansy Contreras.

      Advice: Abreu is definitely swinging the bat better now than he was before he was sent to the minors, but that bar is so low it might as well be underground. Both of his homers have come since his return, a period that’s seen him go 5-for-27 with an 8/1 K/BB. We’re still pretty skeptical that he belongs in the majors at this point.
